DALLAS, Texas – The West Texas A&M women's soccer team allowed three second half goals in its 4-0 loss to Dallas Baptist on Saturday. Cecily Martinez scored the game winner in the eighth minute before Ashley Cox added a brace in the 56
th minute. Ericca Everson and Bailee Berry added goals in the 80
th and 90
th minutes to hand WT its worse loss this season.
DBU jumped to the early lead in the seventh minute when Martinez scored her first goal of the season.
Haley Girard nearly tied the match in the 33
rd minute on a header but was denied Jenna Ackerly. Alejendra Dockery and
Khadidra Debesette both had shots go wide in the first half. The Lady Buffs held a 8-5 shot advantage in the first half.
Cox's brace in the 56
th minute forced WT to push more players in the attacking end which resulted in giving up two more goals later in the half. Everson and Berry both scored their first goals of the season to put the match out of reach.
TURNING POINTMartinez's goal in the 8
th minute was her first career goal.
