CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M women's soccer closes their regular season schedule on Tuesday night as they travel to Edmond, Oklahoma to take on the Eagles of Oklahoma Christian starting at 7:00 p.m.
 
DALLAS BAPTIST REWIND
The Lady Buffs had limited scoring chances on Saturday afternoon as the top-ranked Dallas Baptist Patriots ran their win streak to 16 matches with a 5-0 shutout win at the Patriot Soccer Complex in Dallas.
 
A LOOK AT THE EAGLES
Oklahoma Christian enters the final week of the regular season with an overall record of 6-9-2 with a 4-8-1 mark in Lone Star Conference play. OC is currently riding a four-game losing streak as they fell to Texas Woman's (1-0) and Lubbock Christian (1-0) last week.
 
Caid Jefferson leads the way offensively for the Eagles as the sophomore from Yukon, Oklahoma has scored four goals to go along with a pair of assists for a team-best 12 points this season. Zoe Ross is tied for the team lead with four goals. Jefferson has registered 33 shots with 18 of them coming on goal with a pair of game winners.
 
OC HEAD COACH EVAN DRESEL
Evan Dresel is now in his fifth season at the helm of the Oklahoma Christian women's soccer program, being named OC's seventh head coach back on June 24, 2021. During his time in Edmond, Okla, Dresel holds a 24-26-19 record, including an 14-21-15 record in Lone Star competition.
 
Between Oklahoma Christian and Mid-America Christian University, Dresel has accumulated a 151-110-24 all-time coaching record. Dresel came to OC after a successful stint at Mid-America Christian. He served as the MACU women's head coach from 2019 until June 2021 after working from 2010 to 2018 as the school's co-head coach of the women's and men's teams at MACU. In 11 seasons guiding the MACU women, he posted a 127-84-5 record.
 
THE SERIES
WT leads the all-time series against Oklahoma Christian 5-1-2 with the series starting in 1998. After the Lady Buffs won the first five meetings in the series, the two teams recorded 1-1 draws in each of the next two matchups before OC registered their first win in the series last season. 
 
WT HEAD COACH TURK OZTURK
Bulut "Turk" Ozturk was named the third head coach in the history of the Lady Buff Soccer program on December 19, 2024. Ozturk brings an impressive nine-season track record of collegiate coaching experience to WT.
 
Ozturk was most recently on the coaching staff at Iowa State University for the 2024 season as the Soccer Development Coordinator. In this role, he was involved in all aspects of assisting a power four program that competes in the Big XII conference. Some of coach Turk's major duties included: Game Day coaching, video analysis for team members, scouting reports, recruiting, travel coordination and leading training sessions for the team.
 
Before Iowa State, Ozturk served as the Head Coach at Michigan Tech University for four seasons. During his tenure, he led the Huskies to their first NCAA tournament appearance in nearly a decade in 2023. Under his guidance, Michigan Tech achieved remarkable success with 17 players earning GLIAC All-Conference Awards, one All-American, over 60 players named to the All-Academic Excellence Team, and eight to the All-Academic Team.
 
LSC PRESEASON POLL
The Lady Buffs were selected 10th in the Lone Star Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll announced on August 27th. 
 
Dallas Baptist claimed 29 of the possible 45 first place votes for a total of 650 points to sit atop of the poll followed by Angelo State (13 first place, 634), Texas Woman's (one first place, 556), Midwestern State (511), St. Mary's (468), St. Edward's (435), Lubbock Christian (392), Oklahoma Christian (358), UT Tyler (347), West Texas A&M (284), Texas A&M International (one first place, 244), UT Dallas (168), UT Permian Basin (146), Eastern New Mexico (124) and Sul Ross State (one first place, 83).
 
Annie Rocha of St. Edward's was tabbed the league's Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. DBU senior Parker Coe was named the Defensive Player of the Year while Amanda Farris of TWU claimed Goalkeeper of the Year accolades.
