CANYON, Texas – The Buffaloes claimed their fifth straight and seventh overall Lone Star Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship on Saturday afternoon with 234.00 points at the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The Buffs won five LSC individual championships on Saturday including a new LSC Indoor Championship record in the 3,000m by
William Amponsah.

Luke Holcombe started off the day in the men's shot put as the Floydada product finished third with a mark of 17.06m (55' 11¾") followed by
Ethan Hollinshead in fifth (15.05m) and
Brocc Brodecky in seventh (14.60m).Â
Prince Mcabelo claimed a second-place finish in the 800m with a time of 1:52.97 followed by
Shane Ketchum in 6th (1:55.81) and
Jordan Purcell in 7th (1:57.42).

Manuel Cuesta won the first gold medal of Championship Saturday for the Buffs as he registered a mark of 15.51m (50' 10¾") while Anas Mirghani finished third (15.22m) followed by Gael Robles in fourth (14.83m).

James Dadzie won gold in the 60m dash with a mark of 6.69 followed by
Isaac Botsio in 3rd (6.73) and
Jerry Jakpa in 5th (6.81). Jakpa also claimed a second-place finish in the men's 200m with a time of 20.87.

The WT distance crew continued to dominate as they went 1-2-3 in the mile led by
Adrian Legarreta winning an LSC Title with a time of 4:12.14,
Dennis Cheruiyot claimed silver with a 4:14.49 followed by
Calvin Allen in third (4:16.30).

Troy Whyte tied the 8th fastest indoor time in Buffalo with a 7.84 to win the Lone Star Conference Title in the men's 60m hurdles.

Amponsah's LSC Indoor Championship record of 8:06.09 in the men's 3K highlighted an event that saw the Buffs finish 1-2-3-4.
Matthys Bourse claimed silver (8:19.11) followed by
Harry Louradour (8:40.10) and
Aziz Mohammed (8:49.10).

WT turns their attention to the 2025 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships on March 14-15 at Fall Creek Pavilion in Indianapolis, Indiana.
