2024 Cross Country: Won three races for the Buffaloes during the 2024 cross country campaign.
Amponsah was selected as the 2024 LSC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Year, the second time he has been named the award recipient (2023, '24). The senior won his second NCAA Division II men's cross country individual title (29:40.9/10k) becoming the first repeat national champion since 2014. Amponsah was the LSC individual winner (23:16.28/8k) and runner-up at the Division II South Central Regional (31:17.0/10k). The All-American was the recipient of the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Doug Watts Award as the 2024 Division II Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Year.
2024 Outdoor: NCAA DII National Champion in the 10,000m with a time of 29:00.47 and the National Runner-Up in the 5,000m with a time of 14:40.78. Took first at the Lone Star Track and Field Championships in the 5,000m and in the 10,000m. Recorded a personal best and national leading time in the 10,000m with a time of 28:00.09 and a 4th place finish at the Bryan Clay Invitational. Earned All-Region, All-American, and First-Team All-Conference honors. Named South Central Region Men’s Track Athlete of the Year and LSC Men’s Track Athlete of the Year.
2024 Indoor: Placed 6th in the 3000m at the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships with a time of 8:02.67, a new personal record; also ran the 5000m with a time of 13:57.76, finishing in 6th place. Competed in the Lone Star Indoor Track and Field Championships in the 3000m with a time of 8:10.15 and finishing 1st; and the 5000m with a time of 14:13.94, also placing 1st. Earned personal records in the 5000m at Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational with a time of 13:40.16 and in the mile at Stan Scott Memorial with a time of 4:09.83, finishing 1st. Received LSC First Team All-Conference, USTFCCCA All-Region and 2x First-Team All-America honors.. Earned LSC Outstanding Indoor Runner of the Year
2023 Cross Country: Won the NCAA Division II Cross Country Individual Title and helped the Buffs to a fourth place finish at the NCAA DII Championships..Earned a personal record in the 10k with a time of 29:04.3 at the NCAA DII Championships, placing first.. Earned a PR for the 8k at the Live in Lou XC Classic with a time of 23:08.6, also placing first.. Placed first at the Big Country Festival in the 5k with a time of 14:29.2.. Received USTFCCCA All-Region Honors and All-America Honors.. Received Lone Star Conference All-Conference honors and was named the LSC Newcomer of the Year and LSC Runner of the Year…Was named the NCAA Division II Collegiate National Athlete of the Year for Cross Country, becoming the first cross country runner in West Texas A&M history to do so after an undefeated season..
