USTFCCCA All-Americans
NEW ORLEANS, La. – West Texas A&M earned 20 All-American accolades from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday after finishing second at the 2022 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships last week. The Buffs finished on the podium for the second straight year after scoring a team-best 61 points.
The National Champion 4x100-meter relay squad of
Sifiso Miya,
Jeremiah Lauzon,
Desmond Aryee and
Benjamin Azamati earned First Team honors. The group ran a program record 39.27 to become the first team in program history to win either relay event.
Another record fell for the Buffs from the 4x400 relay team as the quartet of
William Frobe,
Bassem Hemeida,
Malick Diop and
Quinton Sansing ran a team-best 3:06.52 in the finals. The team finished second to earn First Team accolades.
Other First Team honorees included
Hamdi Alamin,
Butare Rugenerwa, and
Jahmaal Wilson while Aryee, Frobe,
Abdelrahim Mahgoub and
Jahmaal Wilson each received Second Team honors.
