CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M will host the Jo Meaker Classic & Multi on April 8-9 at the WTAMU Track & Field Complex.  The two-day meet will feature over 600 athletes from 22 schools. 
 
The meet is scheduled to begin on Friday at 11 a.m. with the women's javelin.  Live results will be available for fans and can be found HERE.  
 
MEET PREVIEW
The Lady Buffs will have a full squad in action this weekend including reigning National Outdoor Champions Zada Swoopes and Taylor Nelloms.  They are both registered in three events with Nelloms making her home debut in the long, triple, and high jump.  
 
Leah Belfield, DeOndra Green and Alana Wilson are each scheduled to compete in the 200-meter.  Belfield and Wilson will also run in the 100 as the pair rank first and 10th in the nation. The trio along with Jordanae Scott are scheduled to run in the 4x100-meter relay. 
 
The men's 4x100-meter relay of Desmond Aryee, Jeremiah Lauzon, Jalen Purcell, and Benjamin Azamati will compete on Saturday.  Azamati is scheduled to compete in the 200-meters as the Ghana product has his eye on his own facility record of 20.13.
 
Jahmaal Wilson is set to compete in the 110-meter hurdles for the Buffs after picking up a provisional mark in his season debut.  The All-American finished 10th at the NCAA DII Outdoor Championships with the fastest time in program history, 39.82. 
 
A LOOK AT THE RANKINGS
The Lady Buffs remained atop the DII standings with 211.30 total points with five national leading marks with Leah Belfield (100m), Eleonora Curtabbi (steeplechase) and Zada Swoopes (shot put; discus) leading in their signature events alongside the 4x100 squad. 
 
On the men's side, the Buffs rank second after adding a pair of Top 10 efforts at the Masked Rider Open with Jeremiah Lauzon ranking seventh in the 100-meter and Jahmaal Wilson running the fourth-fastest time 14.03 in his 110m hurdle season debut.
 
UP NEXT
WT will send a handful of student-athletes from the distance squad to compete in the Bryan Clay Invite on April 14-15 in Azusa, Calif.
