LSC Release RICHARDSON, Texas – In week following the 2015 Lone Star Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, 12 athletes from the West Texas A&M men's and women's track & field teams were honored on Wednesday evening with LSC All-Conference and special award recognition, as announced by the league's office in Richardson, Texas. The announcement comes after the No. 11 Lady Buffs and No. 13 Buffs each placed second at the Championships last weekend. Highlighting the awards is senior
Sharon Kwarula, who earned the Wes Kittley Award, recognizing her as the Most Outstanding Female Track Athlete at the meet.
The list of all-conference performers includes the winner of each event at the conference meet, including all members of the winning relay teams, plus any athlete who scores at least 14 points at the meet. In all, 27 men and 28 women were recognized by the all-conference program.
In addition to the announcement of All-LSC performers, the league recognized four student-athletes and two coaches with individual awards. The special awards were voted upon by the league coaches. Representing WT in that category was Kwarula who earned the Wes Kittley Award after sweeping conference titles in the 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles. This is the second-consecutive year that a WT athlete has won that award after junior
Libby Strickland grabbed the honors in 2014.
Five Buffs made the All-Conference list while the Lady Buffs put a conference-high seven athletes in the award category.
