CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M claimed three Lone Star Conference Championships along with a school record and an LSC Indoor Championship record on Friday during the opening day of the LSC Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

The Lady Buffs started off the day in the pentathlon as
Mara Andritsch picked up a third-place finish with a total of 3,362 points followed by
Kailee Benton in fourth (3,313) and
Erin Martin in ninth (2,651).Â

The prelims on the track started off with the 60m hurdles as Temitpoe Adenuga ran a 8.80 for the top qualifying time followed by
Taylor Gonzalez (9.12) to advance to the finals.

Peace Nwaelehia set a new school record in the prelims of the women's 400m with a time of 53.57 to qualify for the finals along with
Blessing Akintoye (54.25) and
Asana Hamidu (56.26). Akintoye's mark is the fourth fastest in WT history. The women's 60m saw a pair of Lady Buffs qualify for the finals in
Deborah Acheampong (7.62) and
DeOndra Green (7.65)

Meadow Gallentine claimed the first gold medal of the day for the Lady Buffs in the women's weight throw with a mark of 18.49m (60'8") followed by
Hope Gray in fourth (15.94m) and
Abigail Provost in eighth (15.00m).Â

Naomi Addo won the LSC Championship in the women's 5,000m as the freshman ran a time of 17:15.91 followed by
Sarah Koomson in 2
nd (17:15.94),
Julie Lafare in 3
rd (17:44.23),
Elise Leveel in 4
th (17:48.88) and
Lexi Maul in 5
th (17:51.53) to claim big points for the Lady Buffs.

The Lady Buffs qualified three runners for the women's 200m as Akintoye ran a 23.80 to tie the third best mark in WT indoor history followed by Acheampong (24.12) and Nwaelehia (24.31).Â

WT's distance medley relay team (
Abigail Abugire,
Temitope Adenuga, Chaput,
Kalkidan Vincendeau) dominated in the final track event of the night with a time of 11:14.05 to win the LSC Championship and set a new LSC Indoor Championship record.

The 2025 LSC Indoor Championships will be awarded on Saturday in the Land of Enchantment as action starts at 11:00 a.m. in Albuquerque.
