Lady Buffs Win Their 12th Straight LSC Indoor Championship

CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs continued their dominance of the Lone Star Conference as they won their 12th straight LSC Indoor Track & Field Championship on Saturday afternoon with 219.50 points at the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
 
WT set a pair of new LSC Indoor Championships records on Saturday, winning five events with a new school record in the 400m.
 
Abigail Abugire claimed the first LSC Title of the day for the Lady Buffs in the women's mile with a time of 4:52.11, the 5th fastest indoor time in WT history followed by Eliette Chaput in second (4:54.10) which ranks sixth on WT's indoor Top-10 list.
 
The 60m hurdles saw Temitope Adenuga finish second with a mark of 8.69 followed by Taylor Gonzalez in fifth (9.01). Deborah Acheampong registered a third-place finish in the 60m with a time of 7.58 followed by DeOndra Green in fifth (7.66). Meadow Galantines claimed a third-place finish in the women's shot put with a mark of 13.72m (45' 0¼") followed by Alex Tice in 6th (12.97m). 
 
Blessing Akintoye set a new LSC Indoor Championship record in the women's 400m with a time of 53.10 for a new school record, Peace Nwaelehia finished second with a 53.33 to sit second on the WT all-time list.
 
Abugire won her second gold medal of the day in the 800m with a time of 2:10.00 for the third best mark in WT indoor history. Akintoye claimed a 2nd place finish in the women's 200m with a time of 23.78 followed by Acheampong in 4th (24.16).
 
The women's 3K saw the Lady Buffs place seven runners inside of the Top-10 as Naomi Addo won the event with a time of 9:45.57. Leidy Cuesta won gold in the triple jump as the Columbian product had a mark of 12.39m (40' 7¾") on her second attempt.
 
WT turns their attention to the 2025 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships on March 14-15 at Fall Creek Pavilion in Indianapolis, Indiana.
