CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M Track & Field program finished off their final preparations for the LSC Indoor Championships in style this weekend as the Buffs and Lady Buffs set four new school records at the Jarvis Scott Open in Lubbock as well as the BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston.

The Buffs and Lady Buffs look to defend their Lone Star Conference Indoor Championships on February 21-22 at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

Friday in Boston
The men's distance medley relay team of
Calvin Allen, Aymeric Femerely,
Prince Mcabelo,
Aziz Mohammed and
William Amponsah impressed during the opening day in Boston as they ran the fourth fastest time in program history with a 9:50.23 to win the event.
Â
Mohammed continued his great season in the men's 3,000m as the junior from Ghana set a new school record in the event with a time of 8:00.35 to finish 14
th in his heat and 73
rd overall in the loaded field of 243 runners.

Amponsah added another dominant performance to his career in the men's 5,000m as the Ghana product broke his own school record in the event with a time of 13:33.75 to win Heat 3 and finish 17
th overall.
Harry Louradour would run the third fastest time in program history in the event with a 13:50.59 to win Heat 6 and finish 61
st in the field of 212 runners.

Friday in Lubbock
Meadow Gallentine picked up a sixth-place finish in the women's weigh throw with a mark of 18.47m (60-7 ¼) as the Anson product was the highest placing Division II athlete in the event.
Hope Gray claimed a seventh-place finish in Section B of the weight throw with a 16.08m.

A pair of Buffs qualified for the semifinals of the men's 60m dash with
Isaac Botsio (6.75) and
James Dadzie (6.80) finishing inside of the Top-24 of prelims.
Temitope Adenuga punched her ticket to the women's 60m hurdles finals with a time of 8.86.

Saturday in Boston
The Lady Buffs took their turn on the track in Boston on Saturday as
Abigail Abugire started the day by breaking her own school record in the women's 800m with a time of 2:06.34 to win Heat 5 and finish 21
st overall in a field of 211 total athletes.

Naomi Addo finished 73
rd in the loaded 5,000m field as the freshman registered a mark of 16:31.99 for the eighth fastest indoor time in program history.Â

Saturday in Lubbock
Hamdi Ali picked up a seventh-place finish in the men's high jump with a mark of 2.03m as the highest placing Division II athlete in the event.
Blessing Akintoye would finish 12
th in the women's 200m with a mark of 24.15.
