CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M Track & Field continues to improve as they make their way to the indoor championship segment of their schedule following strong performances at the Stan Scott Invitational and the New Mexico Team Open.

The Buffs and Lady Buffs return to the track on February 14-15 as they take part in the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston as well as the Jarvis Scott Invitational in Lubbock.

Friday in Albuquerque
William Amponsah continued his stellar career in Maroon & White in the men's 3,000m as the Ghana product ran a time of 8:10.67 to win the event by over a second, registering the sixth best indoor 3K time in WT history.
Harry Louradour followed in fifth with a mark of 8:14.39to move into eighth on the program's Top-10.

The women's 3,000m saw
Sarah Koomson run a time of 9:49.27 to finish fourth followed by freshman standout
Naomi Addo in fifth (9:52.33),
Elise Leveel in sixth (10:11.74) and
Julie Lafare in seventh (10:18.54). The Lady Buffs competed in the distance medley relay for the first time this season as they ran the second fastest time in school history in the event with a 11:28.34 (
Kalkidan Vincendeau,
Blessing Akintoye,
Abigail Abugire,
Eliette Chaput).

Reigning LSC Field Athlete of the Week
Meadow Gallentine impressed in the women's weight throw as the Anson native registered a mark of 19.09 (62-7 ¾) on her fifth attempt to move into sixth on WT's all-time indoor list.
Hope Gray would finish third in Section B of the event with a mark of 16.59m.

The Buffs qualified a pair for the finals of the men's 60m hurdles as
Troy Whyte (7.92) and
David Richards (7.98) made their way to the Top-8, Whyte would finish second overall with a mark of 7.86 to tie for ninth on the program's Top-10.

Saturday in Albuquerque
The men's mile highlighted Saturday action for the Buffs as
Aziz Mohammed broke a school record in the event with a 4:04.17 to win the event, Amponsah ran a 4:09.02 to finish ninth overall while registering the eighth fastest indoor mile time for the Buffs. Mohammed would finish off the afternoon with a ninth-place finish in the men's 800m with a mark of 1:52.34.

The Lady Buffs had four runners finish inside of the Top-10 in the women's mile led by Vincendeau in seventh with a time of 4:58.69 followed by Chaput in eighth (4:58.91), Koomson in ninth (5:00.05) and Abugire in 10
th (5:00.13).

Saturday in Lubbock
Gallentine would conclude her weekend with a ninth-place finish in Section B of the shot put with a mark of 12.91m (42-4 ¼) while
Prince Mcabelo claimed an eighth-place finish in the men's 800m with a time of 1:51.55.

Hamdi Ali would impress in the men's high jump as the Qatar product registered a mark of 2.07m (6-9 ½) to finish tied for fifth overall.
