CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M Buffaloes hold a comfortable lead atop of the team standings following three Lone Star Conference individual titles during the opening day of the LSC Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Sports Performance Center in Lubbock.

The opening day in Lubbock saw 35 different top-10 finishes by the Buffs to go along with three LSC Titles and a new school record in the weight throw.
Ray Dixon broke his own school record with a toss of 19.02m (62-5) on his fifth attempt to finish second overall.

Harry Louradour dominated in the men's 5,000m with a time of 14:48.90 to claim the LSC Championship.
Hamdi Ali picked up a win in the men's high jump with a mark of 2.12m (6-11.25) followed by
Seniru Amarasinghe in second (2.09m). Â

Joseph Oreva continued to impress in the long jump as the junior from Ughelli, Nigeria registered a mark of 7.41m (24-3.75) on his second attempt to claim the LSC Title. The Buffs qualified 14 for running event finals on Saturday including four each in the 60m and 200m.
Gerard Bryant sits second in the heptathlon with a total of 3.063 points.
