CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M's
Hamdi Ali and
Ray Dixon set new school records while the Buffs and Lady Buffs combined for 26 Top-10 finishes during Saturday's action at the Texas Tech Open & Multis and the Colorado Racing Company Mountain Lion Open.
The women's 3,000 meter saw a pair of Top-10 times in program history as
Eleonora Curtabbi won the event with a 9:36.12 for the second fastest time ever by a Lady Buff followed in third place by Florance Uwanjeneza with a 9:53.90 which ranked fourth in program history.
Alex Tice picked up a victory in the women's Shot Put in Colorado Springs as the freshman from Lamar, Colorado registered a mark of 13.11m (43-0.25) followed by
Hope Gray in fifth (11.58m, 38-0). The Buffs placed three in the top-ten of the men's weight throw at UCCS highlighted by a new school record throw of 18.94m (62-1.75) by
Ray Dixon to claim the event title.
Ali broke his own school record in the men's High Jump to finish fourth overall as the sophomore from Doha, Qatar registered a mark of 2.20m (7-2.5) for the best mark so far this season in Division II while tying for the 22
nd best mark in Division II indoor history.
