CANYON, Texas –
West Texas A&M returns to action on Thursday, Oct. 3, when they host Texas A&M-Commerce in a Lone Star Conference showdown. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at The Pitch.

A LOOK AT THE LADY BUFFS
The Lady Buffs opened LSC play with a convincing 2-1 victory over previously unbeaten Eastern New Mexico on Friday, Oct. 4, at The Pitch.

Hannah Kelley-Lusk opened the scoring in the 10th minute for WT as the junior forward chipped the goalkeeper after a nice through ball from Jessica Diaz. It was the first goal allowed by the Greyhound this season. The home team wasn't done as Taylor Thompson came close to doubling the advantage right before halftime. In her collegiate debut, the redshirt freshman beat the offside trap to get one-on-one with the keeper but her shot to the near post was pushed out for a corner kick.

After getting denied twice at point blank range, WT's Khaline Jacob opened her scoring account in the 83rd minute with the eventual game-winner. The senior found herself wide open just inside the penalty area following a ball across the field from Kelley-Lusk before beating the keeper to make it 2-0. ENMU would add a goal in the final minute as WT opened conference play with a win.

The Greyhounds finished the game with a 18-16 advantage in shots with WT putting 12 shots on-goal.

A LOOK AT TEXAS A&M-COMMERCE
The Lions enter the matchup 4-2-1 overall and 1-1-0 in LSC play after splitting their conference games last week. After opening the season with a 0-0 draw against Westrminster in Salt Lake City, Utah, TAMUC has won four of its last six matches.

They are scoring 2.14 goals per contest on 16.3 shots per game while holding opposing teams to 0.86 goals per contest. Leslie Campuzano makes TAMUC as the junior has scored three goals and five assists in seven starts. This past weekend, she scored a brace while adding two assists in a 6-1 win over UT Permian Basin. Amber Crews has scored a team-high four goals on nine shots, six of those on-target. Kara Blasingame, Kasey Sorbers and Tehillah Ndhlovu have all scored multiple goals this season.

Jen Peters has started in goal in every games this season having recorded four shutouts. The freshman has made 39 saves having allowed six goals for a save percentage of .867.

Head coach Neil Piper has an overall record of 242-129-38 since his hiring in 1998. He has led the Lions to a LSC title in six different seasons while  being named the conference's top head coach twice.

THE SERIES
WT leads the all-time series 25-15-2 and have won the past three matchups by a combined score of 7-1. The current three game win streak is  the longest for the Lady Buffs since 2008-10.

LAST TIME AGAINST THE LIONS
The Lady Buffs made it three straight over the Lions with a 2-1 victory on Oct. 19, 2018 in Rockwall, Texas. Due to rain in the area, the game was moved to Kyle Field at Rockwall High School.

Mackenzie Taylor converted a penalty in the 38th minute before TAMUC tied it on Jeorgia Carr's header off a throw-in in the 56th minute. Kelley-Lusk took advantage of a Lion mistake in the 73rd minute to score the game-winner from 15 yards out.

ALL SHE DOES IS WIN
Jacob has scored 16 goals during her three-year career, seven of which have been game-winners. Her goal in the 83rd minute against Eastern moved her into a tie for fifth in career game-winners scored.

HALFWAY TO 100
In Friday's win over the Greyhounds, Calista Cordero made her 50th appearance in Marron & White. The Albuquerque, N.M. native has started in 30 of those matches scoring six goals with two assists for 14 points. She scored a career-high four goals including a game-winner as a sophomore in 2018.

Cheyenne Orozco is one appearance from her 50th at WT. The 2018 LSC Defender of the Year has started in all 49 matches during her career where she has played 4,542 minutes.

RECORD WATCH
Kelley-Lusk needed only one shot against ENMU to score her second goal of the season. The junior now has 111 career shots, one away from tying Jessica Rodriguez (2000-02) for the 10th most in program history.

Mackenzie Taylor is less than forty minutes away from moving into the Top 5 in career minutes played. The four-year starter's total of 5,334 leaves her 38 minutes behind Nadia James (2008-10).

8 WINS AWAY FROM THE CENTURY MARK
10th year head coach Chad Webb is eight wins short of becoming the second head coach in program history to win 100 games. The former Buff standout is 92-73-20 during his tenure including four straight seasons with 10-plus wins and back-to-back NCAA appearances.
