CANYON, Texas – The #15 Buffaloes of West Texas A&M return to the First United Bank Center on Thursday night as they try to remain unbeaten at home in a Top-25 matchup with the #17 Rams of Angelo State with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m. in Canyon.

Cinco Boone enters his second season at the helm of the Rams after spending two seasons as ASU's Associate Head Coach under current Texas Tech Head Coach Chris Beard. In Boone's first season at the helm, the Rams advanced to the South Central Regional Finals.

The #17 Rams enter the weekend with an overall record of 10-2 with a 2-2 mark in the Lone Star Conference following a pair of home losses this past weekend to #9 Tarleton State and Texas A&M-Commerce inside of the Junell Center in San Angelo.

ASU is led offensively by Quay King who has gone 69-of-162 from the floor including 45-of-111 from deep and 41-of-50 from the free throw line to average 20.4 points per contest Thomas Tshikaya averages 9.5 rebounds per game. The Rams have gone 336-of-703 (47.8%) from the field this season including 96-of-254 (37.8%) from long range and 226-of-314 (72%) from the charity stripe while averaging 42.8 (+4.6) rebounds and 82.8 (+10.5) points per game.

The Buffs lead the all-time series against the Rams, 39-24 with the two teams splitting last year's meetings as each home team prevailed. Angelo State is 6-26 all-time in Canyon including 3-11 at the FUBC since the facility opened in 2002.

The #11 Buffs scored just 18 points in the first half but battled back to claim a wild Lone Star Conference victory on Saturday afternoon in Lawton, Oklahoma as WT topped the Cameron Aggies, 100-98 in four overtimes to tie the longest game in WTAMU history.

Saturday's contest ties the longest game in Buffalo Basketball history with a 1954 matchup with Beloit College (now NCAA Division III) as then West Texas State fell to the Buccaneers, 69-71 in Beloit, Wisconsin.

The Buffs went 32-of-91 (35.2%) from the field in the game including 8-of-39 (20.5%) from deep and 28-of-39 (71.8%) from the charity stripe with 56 rebounds (12 offensive, 44 defensive), 16 assist, 13 turnovers, six blocks an seven steals. Chavlovich went 8-of-30 from the floor to lead the Buff with 28 points followed by Golightly Jr. (17), Quaid (15), Evans (14), Walton (12) and White (11) in double-figures while Quaid grabbed 15 rebounds for a double-double.

The Buffs went 26-of-65 (40%) from the floor including 7-of-28 (25%) from deep and 33-of-44 (75%) from the free throw line to go along with 46 rebounds (19 offensive, 28 defensive), 21 fouls, 10 assists, nine turnovers, five blocks and seven steals. MOVING ON UP
Junior guard
David Chavlovich is quickly making his way up WT's all-time career scoring list as the Arlington native has scored 1,468 points in his 77 career games in Maroon & White to average an impressive 19.1 points per contest. Chavlovich's 28 points against Cameron on Saturday moved the junior guard into second place all-time to pass Reggie Ramey (1973-76 / 1,440). Chavlovich now sits just 98 points behind Martin Lattibeaudiere (1993-97 | 1,566) for WT's all-time scoring mark.

NABC DIVISION II TOP-25 POLL (JAN. 10)
WT entered the week tied for the most wins in any level of NCAA Basketball (16, UCLA) as the Buffs fell four spots to #15 in the newest National Basketball Coaches Association (NABC) Top-25 Poll announced on Tuesday by the association's offices in Kansas City, Missouri.

Northwest Missouri State picked up 12 of the possible 16 first place votes for a total of 396 points followed by Fairmont State (four first place, 388), Queens (359), West Liberty (352), Cal Baptist (337), Wheeling Jesuit (307), Barry (304), Shippensburg (275), Bellarmine (243) and Southern Indiana (227) to round out the top ten.

West Texas A&M returns to the friendly confines of the First United Bank Center on Thursday night, the Buffs are a perfect 9-0 at home this season. During those nine home contests, WT has shot 47.4% (271-of-572) including 34% (84-of-247) from behind the arc and 73.7% (202-of-274) from the charity stripe to go along with 41.2 rebounds per game and 92.0 (+18.2) points per contest.
