BETHANY, Okla. – The West Texas A&M women's soccer team couldn't find an equalizer in the dying minutes as they lost to Southern Nazarene, 2-0, on Thursday night. The loss drops the Lady Buffs record to 0-3 while the Crimson Storm improves to 2-0.
The Lady Buffs allowed an untimely goal right before half time as SNU's Hannah Robinson got on the end of rebound and sent it to the back of the net. WT continued to pressure and nearly found the equalizer in the 82
nd but
Haley Girard shot was saved by Natasha Fuentes.
Ashlee Craig had another chance in the 85
th minute but Fuentes was there to keep the Lady Buffs off the board. SNU'sAlyssa Glitzke sealed the match with a goal in the 89
th minute as the Lady Buffs sent everyone forward searching for an equalizer.
COACHES THOUGHTS- "In the second half we did play better, so the girls responded to the adjustments we wanted to make at half time."
- "We had the better chances in the match but were not good enough in front of the goal. Unfortunately, they got two goals off a rebound and a long shot."
TURNING POINTSNU's Hannah Robinson scored the matches first goal in the 41
st minute. Robinson pounced on a rebound after WT's
Ashley Avila had sent Grace Self's shot back in to the box.
