GAME NOTES
CANYON, Texas - The West Texas A&M women's soccer team returns to The Pitch to host a pair of matches this weekend. WT first welcomes Texas Woman's on Friday, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. After playing the Pioneers, the Lady Buffs will host Texas A&M Commerce on Sunday, Oct. 11 at 1 p.m.

SCOUTING TEXAS WOMAN'S The Pioneers enter the weekend having lost and tied their last two matches. TWU played to a 2-2 draw with Texas A&M-Commerce on Oct. 1.
Natalie Diaz leads the Pioneers offense in every statistical category including goals (3), assists (6), points (12) and shots (23). Gabby Larsen and Ashley Bishop have both scored two goals a piece.
Ariana Morrison has started all ten matches for the Pioneers this season. She leads the Lone Star Conference in saves per game (6.00) and fourth in shutouts per game (.300), goal against average (.862) and save percentage (.870).
TEXAS WOMAN'S VS. WEST TEXAS A&M - THE SERIES+ WT leads the all-time series against TWU, 12-3-2.
+ The Lady Buffs have won seven of the last eight, including four straight at home.
- WT have never lost to the Pioneers at home holding a record of 8-0-1.
+ The two teams split the season series last season with each team winning at home.
SCOUTING No. 24 TEXAS A&M-COMMERCEThe Lions opened LSC play with a victory over then No. 7 Angelo State, 1-0, but have tied their past two contests. TAMUC will take on Dallas Baptist Tuesday, Oct. 6 before returning to conference play on Friday and Sunday.
Vicky Back enters the week ranked first in the LSC in goals (8), goals per game (.889), points per match (2.00) and game-winning goals (2). Assisting Back in the attack, Jade Bell leads the conference with eight assists and assists per game (.667).
Goalkeeper Courtney Burnette could be considered one of the best goalies in the conference and she has the numbers to prove it. Burnette averages a league high .556 shutout per game and is second with 4.89 saves per game.
TEXAS A&M-COMMERCE VS .WEST TEXAS A&M - THE SERIES+ WT leads the all-time series against the Lions, 19-11-2.
+ The Buffs have won three of the last five meetings.
+ WT hasn't beaten the Lions at home since Oct. 1, 2010 .
SCOUTING THE LADY BUFFSThe Lady Buffs will look to rebound after dropping both of their matches last weekend. WT was outscored 5-1 in losses to No. 5 Angelo State and Midwestern State.
Sydney Hickerson was the lone Lady Buff to find the back of the net this past weekend. Hickerson's strike against Midwestern State was her second of the season and first in conference play.
Khadidra Debesette picked up her first career assist on the goal.
Karyn Forbes continues to lead the team in shots (31) but has only found the back of the net once. Look for her to continue to attack from her midfield position while opening up space for the fowards in the attack.
LONE STAR IN THE POLLSAngelo State and Texas A&M-Commerce are both ranked in the Oct. 6 NSCAA Top 25 poll. The Belles moved up one spot from last week and are ranked fifth while Texas A&M-Commerce enters the poll at 24th. It marks the first time all season that the LSC has had two teams in the top 25 at the same time.
NEXT UPThe Lady Buffs will host Midwestern State on Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. at The Pitch. WT will then host No. 5 Angelo State on Oct. 18 at 1 p.m.
