CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M Buffaloes registered rounds of 300, 290 and 299 to finish 10
th overall with an 899 (+25) at the Firekeeper Open hosted by Washburn University at the Firekeeper Golf Club in Mayetta, Kansas.
The opening round saw the Buffs shoot a 300 with 11 birdies highlighted by three each from
Santiago Caride,
Luis Palomo and
Connor Kurysh. Caride impressed in the second round as the junior shot a 70 (-2) with four feathers to sit eighth after the opening 36 holes, WT registered their lowest score of the event with a 290.
Tuesday's final round was highlighted by a +2 (74) from Palomo as he tallied five birdies with the Buffs shooting a 299. Caride led the way for the Buffs as the junior shot a 218 (+2) to finish tied for 11
th overall.
Oklahoma Christian won the team championship with rounds of 289, 290 and 280 for a five-under 859 for a 1-stroke victory over Central Oklahoma (869, +5). Washburn's Blake Saffell claimed the individual crown on his home course with a -9 (207) for a two-stroke victory over Josh Esterley of Concordia St. Paul (-7, 209).
The Buffs return to the course on April 14-16 as they make their way to Rockwall, Texas to take part in the 2025 Lone Star Conference Championships at Rockwall Golf & Athletic Club.
