CANYON, Texas – The Buffaloes of West Texas A&M continued their hot start to the fall season on Tuesday as they picked up a win at the DII Shootout at PGA Riviera Maya (Par 72 – 6,980 Yards) in Akumal, Mexico.
The Buffs fired rounds of 299, 300 and 294 for a team total of 893 (+29) to claim a 10-stroke win over CSU Pueblo and UT Tyler (+39, 903). WT finished the tournament with 153 pars, 39 birdies and two eagles, leading all teams on par-five scoring with an average of 4.93 strokes.
Victor Estas led the way for the Buffs with rounds of 74, 74 and 72 for a 220 (+4) to finish third overall.
Santiago Caride shot a 221 (+5) to finish tied for fourth with
Luis Palomo and Jose Rozas tied for 11
th (226). Estas had nine feathers over the three rounds with four of them coming on Sunday during round one.
The Buffs host the annual Ryan Palmer Foundational Invitational on October 14-15 at Amarillo Country Club.
