CANYON, TEXAS – The West Texas A&M Buffaloes shot an opening round 278 (-10) to sit tied atop the team leaderboard on Monday at the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships at Boulder Creek Golf Club (Par 72 – 7,595 Yards) in Boulder City, Nevada.
 
The Buffs lead the field in par-three scoring (3.05) as they registered 24 birdies during the opening round to tie for first after 18 holes. 
 
Luis Palomo and David Vega Gerstel are tied atop of the individual leaderboard with George Cordell of Lee University with an opening round 66 (-6). Palomo had six birdies and one bogey while Vega Gerstel, the LSC Champion, had eight feathers and two bogeys highlighted by seven birdies on the back-nine.
 
The Buffs are tied atop of the team leaderboard with Missouri-St. Louis at -10 (278) to hold a two-stroke lead over Florida Southern and Lee (-8, 280) tied for third overall.
 
WT continues their parings with Charleston and Central Missouri on Tuesday with traditional tee times starting at 11:20 a.m. CT
