CANYON, Texas – On Wednesday night, West Texas A&M junior
Emilee Boyer hauled in Lone Star Conference Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year, becoming the first player in Lone Star Conference history to receive both honors in the same season.

Heidi Vortherms also picked up a specialty honor as the senior pitcher was named the LSC Academic Player of the Year. Vortherms becomes the second Lady Buff to earn the award after Kilee Halbert won the honor in 2016 and 2017.

Head coach
Michael Mook earned his second Lone Star Conference Coach of the Year honor after earning the award last season.

Boyer, a utility player and pitcher, posted a .479 batting average with 10 doubles, two triples, and 20 home runs while driving in 84 and scoring 54. Her offensive numbers rank inside the top 10 of multiple NCAA Division II categories including leading the nation in RBIs and slugging percentage. Additionally, Boyer has posted a stellar season in the circle. The Harrisburg, S.D. native holds a 24-3 record with a 1.98 ERA and 209 strikeouts over 155.2 innings of work. Boyer has accounted for two saves, 11 complete games, and three shutouts on the season thus far.

Joining Boyer on the first team were
Lauren Granger and Vortherms. Granger produced a .429 batting average with 53 runs scored, 14 doubles, seven triples, 16 home runs and 44 RBIs out of the Lady Buffs' leadoff spot. Vortherms earns her first First Team honor after throwing 109.2 innings in the circle. During that time, the senior posted an 18-1 record with four complete games, one shutout, and 117 strikeouts.

WT landed four on the conference's second team including
Cadence Colborn,
Abby Howell,
Emily Liskai, and
Heaven Moreno. Colborn and Howell also earned spots on the All-Freshman team.
Kiley Avery and
Avery Cannon represented the Lady Buffs on the third team, earning the first all-conference honor in their respective careers.

WT opens the Lone Star Conference Tournament on Thursday, May 1 at 7:30 p.m. against eighth-seeded St. Edward's. All games of the tournament will be held at Schaeffer Park.
