De Los Santos Makes History as the #6 Lady Buffs Keep Rolling

CANYON, Texas – The #6 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M ran their win streak to eight games on Sunday afternoon as they closed out their regular season road schedule with a pair of Lone Star Conference wins at Texas A&M International.
 
Senior infielder Jordyn De Los Santos went 3-for-4 in the second game for the Lady Buffs, hitting a pair of homeruns and tying the Lone Star Conference single-game record with nine RBI.
 
The Lady Buffs return to Schaeffer Park next weekend with the final four games of the regular season starting with a doubleheader showdown with #13 Angelo State on Friday night in Canyon.
 
Game 1 – West Texas A&M 5, Texas A&M International 1
The Lady Buffs jumped out to an early lead with Bella Holland connecting on a leadoff homer for the 1-0 advantage. WT used the long ball to add to their lead in the top of the fourth inning on a Brooke Janning three-run shot followed later in the frame by a Mya Chacon RBI groundout at 5-0.
 
The Dustdevils got on the board in the home half of the seventh inning with Isabella Perez connected on a solo homerun at 5-1.
 
Janning claimed the win (20-2) in the circle, allowing one earned run on four hits with two walks and four strikeouts in her 6.1 innings of work.
 
Game 2 – West Texas A&M 19, Texas A&M International 6 (5 Innings)
WT got on the board in the top of the opening frame with Cadence Colborn singling to right field to plate Jordyn De Los Santos. The Lady Buffs added to their lead in the second inning with four runs highlighted by a three-run long ball by De Los Santos for the 5-0 lead.
 
The Lady Buffs put the game away in the third inning with five runs as Colborn registered a solo long ball followed by a De Los Santos grand slam for the 10-0 advantage. TAMIU responded in the bottom of the inning, pushing across five runs to make it 10-5.
 
West Texas A&M wasn't done yet as they scored six runs in the top of the fourth highlighted by a Janning three-run homerun followed by two more runs in the top of the fifth with De Los Santos driving in two more runs.
 
Laci Peskey picked up the win (18-4) for the Lady Buffs, allowing five earned runs on eight hits with three walks and three strikeouts in her four frames.
