Lady Buff Basketball Adds Juliet Slater for 2026-27

CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M women's basketball head coach Josh Prock has announced the addition of Frederick, Colorado product Juliet Slater for the 2026-27 basketball campaign.

"We are very excited to announce the signing of Juliet Slater. As we began to identify young ladies we were looking to sign one of the attributes we were looking for was toughness. When you watch Juliet play, toughness defines her game, she is a young lady who is very versatile and can play multiple guard spots" said Prock "Another part of her game that stood out to us was her unselfishness, putting the team first with her play. Juliet has the ability to score in a variety of ways and understands how to take what the defense is giving her."

Slater recently began her senior season at Erie High School in Erie, Colorado. The 5'8 guard was a First Team All-Conference and First Team Academic All-State selection as a junior for the Tigers under head coach Tyler Cerveny. Slater was the EHS team captain as well as a Weld County All-Star selection, averaging 13.2 points per game last season.

"Juliet has the ability to be an elite defender and will come in and fit what we are doing very well" added Prock "This is a young lady who understands what Lady Buff Basketball is about and does a great job in the classroom and will represent us very well in the community."

Juliet also lettered in track and field for the Tigers. She excels in the classroom as a member of the Dean's List Honor Roll as well as the AP Scholars with Distinction. She is the daughter of Dustin and Jennifer Slater and she has three siblings: Owen, Preston and Luke. Slater is expected to major in Business at West Texas A&M.

"Juliet is a leader, gives elite effort daily, and is highly respected by all her teammates/opponents. On the court, Juliet is a combo guard that can score attacking the rim and is a strong perimeter shooter. Defensively, she does a great job on-the-ball and off-ball" said EHS Head Coach Tyler Cerveny "I'm proud of how Juliet thoroughly attacked the recruiting process to find the best fit for her. West Texas A&M's free flowing style was very attractive to Juliet, as was her relationship with Coach Prock. I'm thrilled with the decision she's made and I know she will be a big part of the team's success for years to come!"
