#7 Lady Buffs Lock Down St. Edward’s in a 77-46 LSC Victory

CANYON, Texas – The #7 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M continued to roll on Thursday night as they grabbed 50 rebounds on the way to a 77-46 Lone Star Conference victory over the St. Edward's Hilltoppers at the First United Bank Center in Canyon, Texas.
 
West Texas A&M began the first quarter with a balanced attack, capitalizing on points in the paint and second-chance opportunities. Taylor Haggan opened the scoring with a layup, setting the tone for an effective inside presence that resulted in 10 points in the paint. The home team maintained momentum with a 3-pointer from Randi Harding and a crucial three-point play by Claire Graham, contributing to a lead that they would not relinquish.
 
The team also took advantage of turnovers, converting six points off St. Edward's turnovers. Kenadee Winfrey added a key 3-pointer to extend the lead, while Henley West's jumper further solidified their advantage. The quarter closed with Taylor Haggan's 3-pointer at the 8-second mark, leaving the Lady Buffs ahead 23–17.
 
The Lady Buffs capitalized on a strong start in the second quarter, with Taytum Bell scoring a layup early, assisted by Haggan, to extend the lead. The team effectively controlled the paint, scoring 10 points and securing crucial offensive rebounds to maintain possession. A notable defensive effort included three steals, which translated into fast break opportunities and contributed to a 12-point bench scoring advantage.
 
Henley West and Karley Motschenbacher added key baskets, pushing the home team's lead further, while Zoey McBroom delivered a fast break 3-pointer with 48 seconds remaining. The quarter concluded with the Lady Buffs leading 41–29, maintaining a 12-point margin over St. Edward's as the teams moved into halftime.

Kyla Kane and Haggan contributed significant baskets early, pushing the home team ahead. Despite Suni Davis's efforts for the visitors, including an early layup and free throw, the home team maintained control. WT closed the quarter by sustaining their lead, outscoring St. Edward's 15–9 in the fourth, concluding the game with a decisive victory.
 
West led the Lady Buffs with 11 points and three blocks, contributing significantly on both ends. Haggan added 11 points and recorded one block, providing a steady presence in the paint.
