CANYON, Texas – The Buffaloes of West Texas A&M fired rounds of 294 and 286 on Monday to sit third on the team leaderboard following the opening day of the RJGA South Central Shootout at the Inn of the Mountain Gods (Par 72 – 7,166 Yards) in Ruidoso, New Mexico.
Stetson Provence, playing as an individual, impressed during his second tournament in Maroon & White as the Randall High School product shot a 141 (-3) with a pair of rounds in the red (71, 70). Provence finished the first 36-holes with 11 birdies with seven of them coming in the second round, he also had an eagle in the opening round on the 496-yard par five 11
th hole.
The Buffs finished the first day with a 580 (+4) as they had 46 total feathers with 30 birdies coming from their lineup during the opening 36-holes to go along with three total eagles.
UT Permian Basin shot rounds of 289 and 284 for a 573 (-3) to take a four-shot round into the final round over Fort Lewis (+1, 577). Traejan Andrews of FLC and Amav Arkanath of Western New Mexico sit tied atop of the team leaderboard with a -5 (139) to hold a one stroke lead over FLC's Jackson Rottschafer (140, -4).
