23 Track and Field Athletes Earn All-America Honors

NEW ORLEANS, LA – West Texas A&M Track and Field earn 23 All America honors for the 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field season as announced Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). 

Athletes of member institutions who finished in the top-8 of their respective individual events and as part of a relay team at the 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships earned First-Team All-America honors. Those who finished ninth through 16th individually and ninth through 12th as part of a relay team were named Second-Team All-America.

ALL-AMERICAN BUFFS
The Buffs have 14 All-America honors with ten first team and four second team. National Champions Isaac Botsio and William Amponsah lead the pack with two first team honors each. Jerry Jakpa adds another first team honor and a second team honor in the 100m. Gerard Bryant continues his All-America streak in the decathlon with second team as does Harry Louradour in the 10,000m. Joseph Oreva and Hamdi Ali hold down first team honors for the field events in long jump and high jump. Jeremiah Lauzon adds another 4x100 relay All-America first team honor as well. 
Prince Mcabelo, Aziz Mohammed and Jace Lynch all add their first All-America outdoor honors. Mcabelo earned second team in the 800m. National Champions Mohammed and Lynch each earned a first team honor in their respective events. Lynch is the sole freshman of the Buffs to earn All-America outdoor this season. 
 
ALL-AMERICAN LADY BUFFS
The Lady Buffs have 9 All-America honors with six as first team and three as second team. Two-time National Champion Florance Uwajeneza leads the Lady Buffs with two first-team honors. Corrssia Perry earns two honors, a first team for 400m and a second team for 200m. Laiten Greeson earns two second team honors for heptathlon and 110m hurdles. 
Freshmen Blessing Akintoye and Deborah Acheampong earned their first All-America honors with Akintoye from the 400m where she took seventh and Acheampong in the 100m where she took sixth. Both freshmen add first team All-America to their debut season in maroon and white.
