CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M women's soccer wraps up the 2024 campaign on Thursday when the Lady Buffs host the Midwestern State Mustangs for Senior Day. WT will honor its eight seniors ahead of the game with a 7 p.m. kickoff to follow. Ā

ALL TIME SERIES
WT leads the all-time series against Midwestern State 25-24-3 with the series starting in 1996. Last season, the Mustangs defeated the Lady Buffs 3-1 in Wichita Falls. WT is 17-4-2 at home in the series along with a 19-17-2 record in conference play. The Lady Buffs are 2-3 in the last five meetings and 7-3 in the last 10.

LAST TIME OUT
West Texas A&M women's soccer dropped its final road match of the regular season at St. Edward's, 3-1. The Lady Buffs recorded the game's first shot two and a half minutes in when Madison Stokes put a shot on frame. After WT looked to take an early lead, St. Edward's took the lead in the seventh minute as Marie Hannedouche connected with Tristyn Cabello for the Hilltoppers first goal. St. Edward's added to its lead in the 16th minute as Cabello assisted on Carina Wust's goal. The Hilltoppers added to their lead in the 67th minute Hannedouche played a ball forward for Abigail Hall. As Hall approached the ball, Reagan Heelan ran off her line, but a touch from Hall sent the ball into the back of the net. WT broke up the shutout in the 75th minute as St. Edward's foul near midfield gave the Lady Buffs a free kick. On the restart, Alexsis Villarreal placed a ball back post where Avery Putnam raced to tap the ball in the goal.

SCOUTING MIDWESTERN STATE
The Mustangs visit Canyon with an overall record of 9-3-5 and a 5-2-5 mark in Lone Star Conference play after a 6-0 victory over Sul Ross State. After leading 2-0 at halftime, Midwestern State scored four goals in the second half to put the game away. The Mustangs are led by Lexi Beck and Cassidy Savoy with 16 points. Beck has reached the point total with four goals and a team-leading eight assists while Savvoy leads the team with seven goals and two assists. In total, 13 different players have scored with 11 players recording assists. In goal, Allison Dellis and Annika Medellin have seen time with Dellis accounting for 15 of the team's 17 starts and 1,350 of the 1,530 total minutes. Together, the goalkeepers have combined for 20 goals allowed and 87 saves on 249 shots faced for 1.18 goals against average, .813 save percentage, and three shutouts.

A LOOK AT THE LSC BRACKET
The top seven teams in the Lone Star Conference standings make the tournament with the top seed hosting the semifinals and championship games. Currently, Angelo State leads the conference with 2.46 conference points per game followed by DBU with 2.42. Texas Woman's holds the No. 3 spot while Lubbock Christian, Midwestern State, and St. Mary's remain tied for fourth with 1.67. UT Tyler holds the final playoff spot with 1.64 points per game with St. Edward's (1.58) and Oklahoma Christian (1.50) closing in.
