CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M women's soccer kicks off the 2023 season against CSU-Pueblo in Pueblo, Colo. on Thursday with kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Central time. The Lady Buffs look to win three-straight season openers for the first time since 2011.

All TIME SERIES
WT leads the all-time series with the ThunderWolves, 7-5-1. The Lady Buffs have won two-straight meetings including a 3-0 home victory last season.

2022 RECAP
The Lady Buffs finished third in the Lone Star Conference, appearing in the semifinals of the conference tournament before being knocked out by Midwestern State. WT's regular-season performance earned a berth to the NCAA Tournament where the Lady Buffs defeated St. Mary's 2-1 in the first round. WT saw its postseason journey end at the hands of No. 1 Dallas Baptist with a 2-0 loss. The Lady Buffs posted a 14-4-4 overall record with a 6-2-4 mark in conference play.
Asha James and
Maria-Frances Serrant became the program's eighth and ninth All-Americans when the duo was named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-America teams. James was listed on the second team while Serrant was on the third team after combining for 28 goals and 11 assists.

LSC PRESEASON POLL
Reigning Lone Star Conference champion Dallas Baptist picked up 37 of 39 possible first-place votes and 504 points to top the poll. Angelo State followed the Patriots in the standings with 457 points. WT finished third (one first-place, 412) while Lubbock Christian (351) and St. Mary's (339) rounded out the top five.

St. Edward's received the sixth spot with 318 points followed by Midwestern State (299) and UT Tyler (219). Texas A&M International (182) and Oklahoma Christian (149) finish the top 10 with Texas Woman's (127), Eastern New Mexico (114), and UT Permian Basin (78) conclude the rankings.

Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year
Reagan Heelan, a Kearney, Neb. Native, started every game in goal for the Lady Buffs. In 1,964 minutes, Heelan allowed 17 goals while making 85 saves with nine shutouts, each of those marks ranked in the top five for the Lone Star Conference. Heelan headlines a roster with 13 returners from the 2022 season.

The Lady Buffs take over a week off before resuming the season at home against Adams State. The Sept. 10 game is scheduled for 1 p.m. at The Pitch.
