CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M faced the Pioneers of Texas Woman's on Saturday as the Lady Buffs search for their first conference win in 2023. The Lady Buffs (1-6-5, 0-4-3 LSC) and Pioneers (10-1-3, 5-1-2 LSC) kickoff at 5 p.m. in Canyon.

History between the Pioneers and Lady Buffs started in 2002 with a 9-1 WT win. The Lady Buffs lead the series 18-9-4 and are 13-1-2 at home. Last season, WT and Texas Woman's played to a scoreless draw in Denton.
LAST TIME OUT
The Lady Buffs struggled to retain possession against Angelo State on Wednesday. The Rambelles netted an early goal to stun WT and seize all momentum in the game. Angelo State scored three more times before the half ended as the Lady Buffs faced a 4-0 deficit at halftime. The second half proved to be like the first as the Rambelles controlled possession and limited WT's opportunities to push up the field. After allowing four goals in the first half, the Lady Buff defense stood tall in the second half to end the game, 4-0.
SCOUTING TEXAS WOMAN'S
The Pioneers sit atop the Lone Star Conference standings with a 5-1-2 record in league play and 10-1-3 overall mark. Texas Woman's is led by Alyssa Striker's 10 points on four goals and two assists. Amanda Farris has been one of the best goalkeepers in the conference and the nation as she currently supports a .932 save percentage and 0.22 goals-against average. Farris has converted 41 saves with just three goals allowed on 131 shots faced in 1,248 minutes of action.
LSC PRESEASON POLL
Reigning Lone Star Conference champion Dallas Baptist picked up 37 of 39 possible first-place votes and 504 points to top the poll. Angelo State followed the Patriots in the standings with 457 points. WT finished third (one first-place, 412) while Lubbock Christian (351) and St. Mary's (339) rounded out the top five.
St. Edward's received the sixth spot with 318 points followed by Midwestern State (299) and UT Tyler (219). Texas A&M International (182) and Oklahoma Christian (149) finish the top 10 with Texas Woman's (127), Eastern New Mexico (114), and UT Permian Basin (78) conclude the rankings.
