LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 4 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M won six events to win their ninth consecutive Lone Star Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship. WT finished with 215.5 points to defeat Angelo State by 100 points.

Zada Swoopes added to her trophy case as with her fourth straight title in the shot put with a Top 10 mark of 56-1.25 (17.10m). After fouling on her fourth attempt, the Whitewright, Texas native won the competition to score 10 points for the Lady Buffs while breaking her previous meet record by nearly three feet in the process.
Taylor Nelloms won her second consecutive title in the triple jump with the nation's best mark of 43-4.0 (13.18m) on her second attempt.
Miriam Zanovello finished third with a mark of 40-4.0 (12.29m) followed by freshman Hekla Magnusdottir in fourth at 38-6.75 (11.75m). Nelloms returned to finish third in the high jump after clearing 5-5.25 (1.66m) in fewer attempts while
Brooke Urban followed in fourth (5-5.25/1.66m) with
Elliot Harrison and Hekla Magnusdottir in fifth and sixth.
On the track, the WT dominated in the 60-meter dash with three speedsters bringing home medalist honors.
Leah Belfield was crowned the 60m champion for the third consecutive year with a meet record 7.42 and was pushed by teammates
DeOndra Green (7.49) and
Alana Wilson (7.55) who claimed silver and bronze medals along with Jordanae Scott in sixth (7.71).
Belfield would return to the track to add to another victory for WT as she broke the meet 200m record set by Abilene Christian's Reyare Thomas in 2013. The sophomore ran the nation's second fastest time at 23.95 which converts to 24.02 with altitude conversion. Wilson was the second Lady Buff to cross the line in running 24.35 to finish third followed by Green (4
th, 24.64) and
Jordan Brown (7
th, 24.76).
Eleonora Curtabbi claimed her second win of the weekend as she ran 10:16.37 in the 3,000m run followed by
Grace Dwyer (10:27.94) in second and
Betty Bajika (10:30.73) in fifth, adding 20 points to the team score. Dwyer was the top finisher in the mile with a time of 5:08.49 to place third while Bajika closely followed in fourth at 5:10.61.
Elliot Harrison and
Laiten Greeson picked up seven points for the Lady Buffs in the 60m hurdles with Harrison finishing fifth with a personal-best 8.84 and Greeson sixth in 8.99. With the team title already locked up, the foursome of Wilson,
Sherifatu Sheriff,
Moillet Kouakou and Brown finished third in the 4x400-meter relay.

Freshman Elliott Harrison opened the competition with a third-place finish in the pentathlon with 3,515 points which is the eighth-best mark in program history followed
Laiten Greeson in sixth with 3,338.
Eleonora Curtabbi picked up her first Lone Star Conference indoor victory with a dominate performance in the 5,000-meter run as the Turin, Italy product claimed the first win for the Lady Buffs on the weekend. She ran a time of 17:27.33 to defeat Eastern New Mexico's Aminata Kenyawani by over 40 seconds.

Alana Wilson and Jordanae Scott each qualified for the finals of the 60-meter dash led by Belfield who set a new meet record and personal-best with a time of 7.46. The sprinters would return to the track for the 200m where Belfield broke her own school and another conference meet record with a time of 23.95 followed by Wilson (24.44), Green (24.67), and
Jordan Brown (24.70).
Brown and
Sherifatu Sheriff qualified for the 400m dash with Brown leading the way at 57.46 and Sheriff 57.72.
In the long jump, four Lady Buffs finished in the Top 10 with
Taylor Nelloms leading the way with the sophomore jumping 19-6.25 (5.95m).
Miriam Zanovello placed third followed by Hekla Magnusdottir and
Daniela Pesic in fourth and eighth.
Zada Swoopes,
Taylor Mixon and
Carly Drake each finished in the Top 5 of the weight throw. Swoopes finished second on her second attempt but threw even farther on her sixth throw (63-2.0/19.25m) for the second-best mark in school history. Mixon finished third with a personal-best 53-8.5 (16.37) with Drake also throwing a personal-best at 51-0.25 (15.55m).
The quartet of
Betty Bajika,
Rebekah Carr,
Raquel Chavez and
Grace Dwyer finished second in 12:19.64 in the distance medley relay which was just 9.54 seconds behind DBU.
