LSC Race Heats Up as the Lady Buffs Host Cameron on Tuesday

CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs conclude their four-game homestand on Tuesday night as they welcome the Cameron Aggies to the First United Bank Center for Lone Star Conference action with tipoff set for 5:30 p.m. in Canyon.
 
EASTERN NEW MEXICO RECAP
West Texas A&M nearly went wire-to-wire on Saturday afternoon as they led for all but 25 seconds in a 75-51 Lone Star Conference victory over the rival Greyhounds of Eastern New Mexico in front of over 1,100 fans on Hall of Champions Weekend at the First United Bank Center in Canyon.  Haylei Janssens led the way offensively for the Lady Buffs as the Moreno Valley, California product went 4-of-10 from the floor including 2-of-5 from deep and 4-of-6 from the stripe for a game-high 14 points to go along with six boards, one assist and two steals.
 
A LOOK AT THE AGGIES
Cameron enters the weekend with an overall record of 13-8 with an 8-3 mark in Lone Star Conference action following a 75-49 loss to then #13 Lubbock Christian last Saturday in Lawton. The Aggies are 5-3 so far this season on the road.
 
Maighan Hedge leads the way offensively for the Aggies as the junior from Melbourne, Australia has gone 157-of-325 (48.3%) from the floor including 60-of-131 (45.8%) from deep and 79-of-91 (86.8%) from the stripe to average an LSC-leading 21.6 points per game to go along with 69 rebounds, 74 assists, 43 steals and three blocks.
 
CU HEAD COACH EMMA ANDREWS
Emma Andrews is now in her sixth season at the helm of the Cameron women's basketball program, holding an overall record of 71-84 during her time in Lawton. Andrews was named CU's head coach on May 11, 2016 following two seasons as the program's top assistant. Andrews came to Lawton from Fresno State where she served as an assistant at her alma mater for two seasons, as a student-athlete she helped the Bulldogs to four-straight WAC Championships and four NCAA Tournament trips.
 
WT HEAD COACH JOSH PROCK
Josh Prock was introduced as WT's new head coach on June 2, 2021. Prock is no stranger to the Lone Star Conference as he spent eight seasons as the head coach at Eastern New Mexico leading the Greyhounds to their only three NCAA Tournament appearances in program history. Over the past four seasons in Portales, he accumulated a record of 77-41 including ENMU's first LSC Championship in program history in 2016-17 where he was named the league's Coach of the Year.

The Lady Buffs are playing their 12th all-time game on February 15th this Tuesday night as they are a perfect 11-0 overall on this calendar date. It will also mark the third meeting between the WT and Cameron on the date with the Lady Buffs sitting 2-0.

West Texas A&M is home to one of the finest multi-purpose facilities in the country as the First United Bank Center has served as the home of the Lady Buffs since January 26, 2002. The Lady Buffs are a staggering 254-37 inside of the FUBC during that time for a winning clip of 87.2%. WT has averaged 1,029 fans per contest since the facility opened its doors with the largest crowd coming on Opening Night with 4,941 members of Buff Nation seeing the Lady Buffs take on rival Abilene Christian.
 
LSC PRESEASON POLL
Defending National Champion Lubbock Christian has been picked atop of the Lone Star Conference Preseason Poll announced on October 27th by the league's offices in Richardson, Texas.
 
The Lady Chaps picked up 40 of the possible 44 first place votes to sit atop of the poll with 741 points followed by Texas A&M-Commerce (three first place, 674) and West Texas A&M (647. LCU's Allie Schulte was named the league's Preseason Player of the Year. Cameron (590) ranked fourth followed by Midwestern State (560), Texas A&M International (490), St. Mary's (411), Oklahoma Christian (397), St. Edward's (385), Texas A&M-Kingsville (368), Texas Woman's (309), UT Permian Basin (246), Eastern New Mexico (241), UAFS (228), Angelo State (194), UT Tyler (one first place, 132) and Western New Mexico (117).
 
LSC DIGITAL NETWORK
The LSC Digital Network is in its third season showcasing the academic and athletic events of the league and its 18 member institutions. Under the new structure for 2021-22, football, volleyball, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's basketball, baseball and softball broadcasts will be available via conference-wide pay-per-view passes.
   
The LSC Digital Network will offer season passes for football, volleyball, soccer, basketball, baseball and softball, giving fans access to all regular-season contests for that sport. In addition, viewers will continue to have the option to purchase a $10 day pass that provides access to all broadcasts aired that day and access to all archived content for 24 hours.

HOME OF CHAMPIONS
West Texas A&M is home to one of the most successful athletic programs in all of NCAA Division II. The 2020-21 season saw WT claim seven LSC Regular Season Championships, three LSC Tournament Titles, three Regional Championships, four Top-three track & field finishes, a men's basketball national title game appearance and the 2021 NCAA Division II Softball National Championship.
