Madison Kast scored 11 points on five consecutive trips down the floor in the heart of the fourth quarter as the Lady Buffs picked up a huge 55-48 Lone Star Conference victory over the rival #13 Lubbock Christian Lady Chaps in front of 2,200 fans at the First United Bank Center on Thursday night.
Zamorye Roberts led the way offensively for the Lady Buffs as the junior from Portales went 4-of-10 from the floor including 4-of-5 from behind the arc and 5-of-6 from the stripe for a game-high 17 points to go along with six rebounds, three assists and two steals. Kast finished the night with a career-high 13 points as she went 5-of-9 from the floor.
The Lady Buffs finished the night going 17-of-50 (34%) from the floor including 7-of-14 (50%) from deep and 14-of-17 (82.4%) from the free throw line with 38 total rebounds (six offensive, 32 defensive), 13 assists, 15 turnovers, seven blocks and nine steals.
Laynee Burr paced the LCU offense as the Stratford product went 5-of-10 from the field including 3-of-5 from the free throw line for a team-high 13 points to go along with four boards. The Lady Chaps finished the game going 13-of-46 (28.3%) from the floor including 3-of-14 (21.4%) from behind the arc and 19-of-24 (79.2%) from the free throw line with 31 rebounds, four assists, 13 turnovers, one block and eight steals.
The Lady Buffs continue their homestand on Saturday afternoon as they welcome Eastern New Mexico to the First United Bank Center for Lone Star Conference action starting at 2 p.m. on Hall of Champions Day.
