PITTSBURG, Kansas – West Texas A&M set two meet records at the Crimson & Gold Invitational on Saturday while collecting 10 provisional marks inside Robert W. Plaster Center on the campus of Pittsburg State.
Boo Rogers
Allen Henderson won the 1,000-meter of the heptathlon on Saturday morning, running 2:48.27 to scoop 784 points. The junior finished 13
th in the heptathlon with 4,610 total points followed by the
Traise Cain with 3,850 in 23
rd.
Crimson & Gold
Junior
Leah Belfield set a new meet record in the 60m dash, running 7.48 to grab her first victory of the season. She ran the sixth fastest time in program history followed by
Gabriella Holmstrom in 12
th at 7.82 and
Bailey Holland at 8.08 to place 52
nd.
Laiten Greeson finished eighth in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.99 followed by
Elliot Harrison in 12
th at 9.16.
Moillet Kouakou ran 25.49 in the 200m to take ninth.
The Lady Buffs registered another victory, placing three jumpers in the Top 10 led by senior
Miriam Zanovello. The Chivasso, Italy product won the long jump invite on her third attempt at 5.82m followed by
Taylor Nelloms in fourth and Hekla Sif Magnusdottir in seventh. Freshman
Kailee Benton won the long jump open with a mark of 5.41m.
Nelloms and Zanovello would return to the jumps pit for the triple jump invite where the duo finished 2-3. Nelloms jumped a meet record 12.64m followed by Zanovello at 12.30m. Freshman
Audrey Lane finished second in the triple jump open at 11.20m.
Brooke Urban finished third in the high jump invite, clearing 1.71m to earn the provisional mark while
Grace Butler placed 10
th in the high jump open at 1.54m.
Jada Sewell led the Lady Buffs in the weight throw and shot put. She finished second in the weight throw with the 10
th best program mark at 16.74m before throwing 12.40m in her third attempt before throwing 12.42m to take eighth in the shot put.
On the men's side, senior
Brien Pittman finished second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.90 followed by
Kenyon Mosley in (16
th),
Jamill Phillips (34
th) and
De'Vonte Edmonds (39
th).
Briggs Wittlake completed the men's 5,000-meter run in 15 minutes, 4.27 seconds to finish 18
th.
Freshman
Isaac Botsio matched the program's seventh fastest time in the 60m dash, running a provisional time of 6.69 to lead WT.
Desmond Aryee followed at 6.90 to take 17
th with
Kenyon Mosley running 7.12 and
Malick Diop 7.22. Diop led the Buffs in the 200m with a time of 22.07 to take 16
th.
Cecil Dosoo finished 10
th in his long jump collegiate debut with a 21-9.2 (6.68m) mark while
Hunter Warminski took 12
th at 20-9.9 (6.40m).
Seniru Amarasinghe recorded a runner-up finish in the men's high jump with a 2.11m clearance.
Ray Dixon led the throws squad in the weight throw with the fourth farthest toss in school history at 18.12m to take seventh followed by
Luke Holcombe in 15
th (15.74m),
Jon Tucker in 29
th (13.72m) and
Ethan Hollishead in 34
th (12.67m). Holcombe led in the shot put with a new personal-best 16.82 provisional mark which is the fourth best throw in WT history.
