Lady Buffs Close Their Road Trip Monday Afternoon in Austin

CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs close out their road trip on Monday afternoon as they head to Austin, Texas to take on the St. Edward's Hilltoppers in Lone Star Conference action with tipoff set for 1 p.m. at the Recreation and Athletics Center.
 
TEXAS WOMAN'S RECAP
The Lady Buffs battled back from a 19-point halftime deficit to cut the lead to single-digits in the fourth quarter before falling to the Texas Woman's Pioneers, 61-50 on Saturday afternoon in Lone Star Conference action at Kitty Magee Arena in Denton. Taylor Williams led the way for the Lady Buffs as the Memphis, Tennessee product went 5-of-12 from the field including 2-of-4 from deep for a team-high 12 points. Haylei Janssens finished the game going 4-of-8 from the floor including 2-of-4 from behind the arc for 10 points to go along with five boards and two steals.
 
A LOOK AT THE HILLTOPPERS
St. Edward's enters the weekend with an overall record of 11-9 with a 4-5 mark in LSC action following a 72-53 win over Western New Mexico on Thursday night in Austin to run their win streak to two games. The Hilltoppers are 9-2 so far this season inside of the Recreation and Athletics Center.
 
Lauren Catherman leads the way offensively for the Hilltoppers as the sophomore from Lubbock has gone 88-of-185 (47.6%) from the field including 24-of-65 (36.9%) from behind the arc and 31-of-41 (75.6%) from the free throw line to average 11.6 points per contest to go along with 49 rebounds, 35 assists, 33 steals and three blocked shots. 
 
SEU HEAD COACH J.J. RIEHL
J.J. Riehl is now in her 10th season at the helm of the St. Edward's women's basketball program as she holds an overall record of 141-121 during her time in Austin with a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances. She took over the program in 2012 following a decade as the top assistant, helping the Toppers to the 2005-06 Heartland Conference Title. Riehl played her college career at SEU, earning two all-conference honors during her time on the hilltop.
 
WT HEAD COACH JOSH PROCK
Josh Prock was introduced as WT's new head coach on June 2, 2021. Prock is no stranger to the Lone Star Conference as he spent eight seasons as the head coach at Eastern New Mexico leading the Greyhounds to their only three NCAA Tournament appearances in program history. Over the past four seasons in Portales, he accumulated a record of 77-41 including ENMU's first LSC Championship in program history in 2016-17 where he was named the league's Coach of the Year.

West Texas A&M is home to one of the finest multi-purpose facilities in the country as the First United Bank Center has served as the home of the Lady Buffs since January 26, 2002. The Lady Buffs are a staggering 251-37 inside of the FUBC during that time for a winning clip of 87.2%. WT has averaged 1,024 fans per contest since the facility opened its doors with the largest crowd coming on Opening Night with 4,941 members of Buff Nation seeing the Lady Buffs take on rival Abilene Christian.
 
LSC PRESEASON POLL
Defending National Champion Lubbock Christian has been picked atop of the Lone Star Conference Preseason Poll announced on October 27th by the league's offices in Richardson, Texas.
 
The Lady Chaps picked up 40 of the possible 44 first place votes to sit atop of the poll with 741 points followed by Texas A&M-Commerce (three first place, 674) and West Texas A&M (647. LCU's Allie Schulte was named the league's Preseason Player of the Year. Cameron (590) ranked fourth followed by Midwestern State (560), Texas A&M International (490), St. Mary's (411), Oklahoma Christian (397), St. Edward's (385), Texas A&M-Kingsville (368), Texas Woman's (309), UT Permian Basin (246), Eastern New Mexico (241), UAFS (228), Angelo State (194), UT Tyler (one first place, 132) and Western New Mexico (117).
 
LSC DIGITAL NETWORK
The LSC Digital Network is in its third season showcasing the academic and athletic events of the league and its 18 member institutions. Under the new structure for 2021-22, football, volleyball, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's basketball, baseball and softball broadcasts will be available via conference-wide pay-per-view passes.
   
The LSC Digital Network will offer season passes for football, volleyball, soccer, basketball, baseball and softball, giving fans access to all regular-season contests for that sport. In addition, viewers will continue to have the option to purchase a $10 day pass that provides access to all broadcasts aired that day and access to all archived content for 24 hours.

HOME OF CHAMPIONS
West Texas A&M is home to one of the most successful athletic programs in all of NCAA Division II. The 2020-21 season saw WT claim seven LSC Regular Season Championships, three LSC Tournament Titles, three Regional Championships, four Top-three track & field finishes, a men's basketball national title game appearance and the 2021 NCAA Division II Softball National Championship.
