CANYON, Texas – The #12 Lady Buffs conclude their homestand on Saturday afternoon as they welcome the Cameron Aggies to the First United Bank Center for Lone Star Conference action with tipoff set for 1:00 p.m. in Canyon.
 
OKLAHOMA CHRISTIAN REWIND
West Texas A&M head coach Josh Prock registered his 300th career victory on Thursday night as the #12 Lady Buffs opened Lone Star Conference action with a 76-51 win over the Oklahoma Christian Eagles at the First United Bank Center in Canyon. Randi Harding led the team with 17 points, sinking 5 of 11 shots from the field and converting all six free-throw attempts while also registering two steals. Taylor Haggan scored 13 points on 5-for-10 shooting and contributed eight rebounds, alongside two assists and two steals.
 
SCOUTING THE AGGIES
Cameron enters the weekend with an overall record of 0-7 including an 0-1 mark in Lone Star Conference play. The Aggies have been outscored 572-428 so far this season, struggling from the floor shooting just 36.7% as a team. The Aggies dropped their LSC opener on Thursday night at Eastern New Mexico, 76-36.
 
Cameron finished the 2024-25 campaign with an overall record of 8-18 with a 6-16 mark in Lone Star Conference action winning six of their final seven contests to narrowly miss the LSC Championships. The Aggies were picked 13th in the LSC Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Cameron roster features a young squad with 10 upperclassmen. Madison Griggs was named to the LSC Preseason Players to Watch List, making 19 appearances with 18 starts, averaging 9.4 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.
 
Griggs leads the way offensively for the Aggies as the sophomore from Mansfield, Texas has gone 44-of-105 (41.9%) from the floor including 16-of-42 (38.1%) from deep and 23-of-33 (69.7%) from the free throw line to average 18.1 points per game to go along with 24 rebounds, 15 assists, seven turnovers and four blocks.
 
CU HEAD COACH JEFF MAHONEY
Jeff Mahoney is in his third season at the helm of the Cameron women's basketball program after being promoted in May of 2022 following three seasons as the program's top assistant. He helped the Aggies make three trips to the LSC Championships as well as a spot in the 2021 NCAA South Central Regional Tournament.
 
Mahoney spent part of the 2021-22 campaign as the interim head coach for the Cameron men's program. The Roosevelt, Oklahoma product is a 1986 graduate of Cameron as he played baseball for the Aggies for two seasons. 
 
THE SERIES
Saturday afternoon will mark the 59th all-time meeting on the hardwood between the Lady Buffs and Aggies as WT holds a 52-6 advantage in the series that dates back to 1982. The Aggies are 1-30 all-time in Canyon, dropping their last 13 trips to the Texas Panhandle.
 
The last meeting between the two came on December 5, 2024. Four Lady Buffs finished the game in double-figures led by Taytum Bell with 18 points and eight rebounds in the 79-58 victory. Randi Harding and Kyla Kane both scored 12 points followed by Claire Graham with 10. The Lady Buffs shot 38.5% from the floor including 44.4% from deep and 77.8% from the free throw line.
 
WT HEAD COACH JOSH PROCK
Josh Prock is now in his fifth season at the helm of the Lady Buff Basketball program. The Lady Buffs made the program's 29th appearance in the NCAA Division II Postseason during the 2024-25 campaign as they went 19-13 overall with a 12-10 mark in the LSC. The Lady Buffs advanced to the South Central Regional Semifinals.
 
Prock reached the 300 career victory milestone on Thursday, December 4th in a 76-51 victory over Oklahoma Christian at the First United Bank Center in Canyon.
 
Prock was introduced as West Texas A&M's head women's basketball coach on June, 2, 2021. Prock is no stranger to the Lone Star Conference as he spent eight seasons as the head coach at Eastern New Mexico leading the Greyhounds to their only three NCAA Tournament appearances in program history.
 
HOME SWEET HOME
West Texas A&M is home to one of the finest multi-purpose facilities in the country as the First United Bank Center has served as the home of the Lady Buffs since January 26, 2002. The Lady Buffs are a staggering 293-47 inside of the FUBC during that time for a winning clip of 86.6%. WT has averaged 1,035 fans per contest since the facility opened its doors with the largest crowd coming on Opening Night with 4,941 members of Buff Nation seeing the Lady Buffs take on rival Abilene Christian.
 
LSC PRESEASON PLAYER OF THE YEAR
West Texas A&M senior guard Kyla Kane was tabbed the Lone Star Conference Preseason Player of the Year announced on Monday, October 20th. The 5-foot-10 native of Wellington, Texas, averaged 13.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. She shot 89.8 percent from the free throw line and made 56 3-pointers. She was a second team all-LSC selection.
 
LSC PRESEASON POLL
The Lady Buffs were selected fourth in the 2025 LSC Preseason Coaches' Poll. Defending Regional Champion Texas Woman's claimed 20 of the possible 51 first place votes to sit atop of the poll with 810 points followed by Lubbock Christian (14 first place, 776), UT Tyler (eight first place, 761), West Texas A&M (six first place, 663) and Eastern New Mexico (two first place, 657) to round out the top five. Angelo State (656) sits sixth followed by Texas A&M-Kingsville (564), UT Permian Basin (466), Midwestern State (461), St. Mary's (438), St. Edward's (363), Oklahoma Christian (310), Cameron (262), Texas A&M International (one first place, 210), UT Dallas (168), Western New Mexico (161) and Sul Ross State (77).
 
RUNNIN' IT BACK
Graduate student Karley Motschenbacher returns to the Lady Buffs for her final season of eligibility in 2025-26 after a season away from the court. The Moorehead, Minnesota product is a three-time All-Lone Star Conference honoree as she has seen time in 95 games with 89 starts for the Lady Buffs, averaging 32.2 minutes per contest. She scored her 1,000th career point back on January 20, 2024 at Eastern New Mexico and is just the 25th player in WT history to score 1,000 points as a Lady Buff.
 
1,000 CAREER POINTS
Senior guard Kyla Kane became the 26th player in Lady Buff Basketball history to reach the 1,000 career point plateau on Saturday, November 29th in an 84-57 victory over New Mexico Highlands at the First United Bank Center during the WT Thanksgiving Classic.
