CANYON, Texas – The #7 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M return to the First United Bank Center on Thursday night as they welcome the Angelo State Rambelles for Lone Star Conference action with tipoff set for 5:30 p.m. in Canyon.

TEXAS A&M INTERNATIONAL REWIND
The Lady Buffs outscored Texas A&M International 36-21 in the second half on Saturday afternoon on their way to a 74-54 Lone Star Conference road victory over the Dustdevils in Laredo, Texas.
Randi Harding scored 17 points and recorded eight assists, leading the team's efforts.
Kyla Kane added 13 points, including three 3-pointers, and collected two steals.
Henley West contributed defensively with eight blocks and grabbed five rebounds.
Taytum Bell tallied six steals and added four points to the scoreboard.

SCOUTING THE BELLES
Angelo State enters the week with an overall record of 15-9 including a 13-5 mark in Lone Star Conference play, riding a 10-game winning streak in Thursday night. The Belles are 7-5 on the road this season, winning their last six road contests dating back to a 77-59 loss at LCU on December 6th.

The Belles picked up LSC home wins over #23 Lubbock Christian and Midwestern State last weekend at the Junell Center. Saturday afternoon saw Angelo State scored 30 points in the second quarter on their way to a 86-77 win over the Mustangs. ASU shot 40.8% (29-of-71) from the floor including 39.4% (13-of-33) from deep and 88.2% (15-of-17) from the free throw line as three players reached double-figures led by Majik Esquivel with 26 points and seven rebounds.

Esquivel, a sophomore guard from Lubbock Cooper High School, is the two-time reigning LSC Offensive Player of the Week. She has gone 148-of-366 (40.4%) from the floor including 54-of-173 (31.2%) from deep and 67-of-82 (82.2%) from the free throw line to average 17.4 points per game to go along with 83 rebounds, 45 assists, nine blocks and 42 steals. Esquivel has reached double-figures in 19 games so fart this season with a season-high 38 points at Oklahoma Christian back on January 10th.

ASU HEAD COACH ALESHA ELLIS
Alesha Ellis is now in her fifth season at the helm of the Angelo State women's basketball program after spending eight seasons at Wayland Baptist where she led the Flying Queens to an overall mark of 189-52 with eight NAIA Tournament appearances. Ellis was a standout prep-player at nearby Plainview High School where she claimed three 3A State Championships with the Bulldogs followed by a collegiate career at Texas Tech.

THE SERIES
Saturday afternoon marks the 86th all-time meeting on the hardwood between the Lady Buffs and Belles as WT holds a 61-24 advantage in the series that dates back to 1987. Angelo State is 8-35 all-time in Canyon including 5-21 at the First United Bank Center.

The last meeting came on February 8, 2025 in Canyon as the Lady Buffs had four players finish in double-figures in a 66-59 victory.
Randi Harding led the way offensively for the Lady Buffs, going 5-of-15 from the floor and 3-of-8 from behind the arc for a team-best 17 points to go along with one rebound and a steal.
Hollie Stalder contributed 12 points and five boards while
Kyla Kane (11) and
Taytum Bell (10) also finished in double-figures with Bell grabbing a team-high 11 rebounds.

WT HEAD COACH JOSH PROCK
Josh Prock is now in his fifth season at the helm of the Lady Buff Basketball program. The Lady Buffs made the program's 29th appearance in the NCAA Division II Postseason during the 2024-25 campaign as they went 19-13 overall with a 12-10 mark in the LSC.

Prock reached the 300-career victory milestone on Thursday, December 4th in a 76-51 victory over Oklahoma Christian at the First United Bank Center in Canyon. Prock was introduced as West Texas A&M's head women's basketball coach on June 2, 2021. Prock is no stranger to the Lone Star Conference as he spent eight seasons as the head coach at Eastern New Mexico leading the Greyhounds to three NCAA Tournament appearances.

HOME SWEET HOME
West Texas A&M is home to one of the finest multi-purpose facilities in the country as the First United Bank Center has served as the home of the Lady Buffs since January 26, 2002. The Lady Buffs are a staggering 299-49 inside of the FUBC during that time for a winning clip of 86.3%. WT has averaged 1,035 fans per contest since the facility opened its doors with the largest crowd coming on Opening Night with 4,941 members of Buff Nation seeing the Lady Buffs take on rival Abilene Christian.

LSC PRESEASON POLL
The Lady Buffs were selected fourth in the 2025 LSC Preseason Coaches' Poll. Texas Woman's claimed 20 of the possible 51 first place votes to sit atop of the poll with 810 points followed by Lubbock Christian (14 first place, 776), UT Tyler (eight first place, 761), West Texas A&M (six first place, 663) and Eastern New Mexico (two first place, 657) to round out the top five. Angelo State (656) sits sixth followed by Texas A&M-Kingsville (564), UT Permian Basin (466), Midwestern State (461), St. Mary's (438), St. Edward's (363), Oklahoma Christian (310), Cameron (262), Texas A&M International (one first place, 210), UT Dallas (168), Western New Mexico (161) and Sul Ross State (77).
