Lady Buff Back on the Court Hosting UTPB Saturday Afternoon

CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs return to the hardwood for the first time in 14 days on Saturday afternoon as they host the Falcons of UT Permian Basin in Lone Star Conference action with tipoff set for 2:00 p.m. at the First United Bank Center in Canyon.
 
UT TYLER RECAP
The Lady Buffs overcame a six-point halftime deficit as they connected 12 times from behind the arc back on January 8th to pick up WT's 250th win inside of the First United Bank Center with a 62-53 decision over the UT Tyler Patriots. Lauren Taylor led the way for the Lady Buffs as the Tennessee product went 6-of-12 from the floor including 3-of-5 from deep for a game-high 16 points to go along with six rebounds, one assist, one block and two steals.
 
A LOOK AT THE FALCONS
UT Permian Basin enters the weekend with an overall record of 4-12 with an 0-4 mark in Lone Star Conference action following a 67-66 loss at Cameron on Thursday night as the Aggies connected on a jumper in the lane with two seconds remaining for the win. The Falcons have dropped their last four contest by an overall score of 248-224 and they are 0-7 so far this season on the road with five of those losses coming during LSC action.
 
Alexus Wykoff leads the way offensively for the Falcons as the senior from Magnolia, Texas has gone 65-of-99 (65.7%) from the floor including 43-of-56 (76.8%) from the charity stripe to average 14.4 points per contest to go along with 55 rebounds, 10 assists and 15 steals. 
 
UTPB HEAD COACH RAE BOOTHE
Rae Boothe is now in her fifth season as the helm of the UT Permian Basin women's basketball program as she holds an overall record of 181-117 during her time in Odessa. She took over the UTPB program in August of 2017 following seven seasons as the head coach at Friends University in Wichita, Kansas where she went 159-67 overall, leading the Falcons to six straight 20-win seasons including five NAIA Tournament appearances and two trips to the Sweet 16.
 
WT HEAD COACH JOSH PROCK
Josh Prock was introduced as WT's new head coach on June 2, 2021. Prock is no stranger to the Lone Star Conference as he spent eight seasons as the head coach at Eastern New Mexico leading the Greyhounds to their only three NCAA Tournament appearances in program history. Over the past four seasons in Portales, he accumulated a record of 77-41 including ENMU's first LSC Championship in program history in 2016-17 where he was named the league's Coach of the Year.

West Texas A&M is home to one of the finest multi-purpose facilities in the country as the First United Bank Center has served as the home of the Lady Buffs since January 26, 2002. The Lady Buffs are a staggering 250-37 inside of the FUBC during that time for a winning clip of 87.1%. WT has averaged 1,065 fans per contest since the facility opened its doors with the largest crowd coming on Opening Night with 4,941 members of Buff Nation seeing the Lady Buffs take on rival Abilene Christian.
 
LSC PRESEASON POLL
Defending National Champion Lubbock Christian has been picked atop of the Lone Star Conference Preseason Poll announced on October 27th by the league's offices in Richardson, Texas.
 
The Lady Chaps picked up 40 of the possible 44 first place votes to sit atop of the poll with 741 points followed by Texas A&M-Commerce (three first place, 674) and West Texas A&M (647. LCU's Allie Schulte was named the league's Preseason Player of the Year. Cameron (590) ranked fourth followed by Midwestern State (560), Texas A&M International (490), St. Mary's (411), Oklahoma Christian (397), St. Edward's (385), Texas A&M-Kingsville (368), Texas Woman's (309), UT Permian Basin (246), Eastern New Mexico (241), UAFS (228), Angelo State (194), UT Tyler (one first place, 132) and Western New Mexico (117).
 
LSC DIGITAL NETWORK
The LSC Digital Network is in its third season showcasing the academic and athletic events of the league and its 18 member institutions. Under the new structure for 2021-22, football, volleyball, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's basketball, baseball and softball broadcasts will be available via conference-wide pay-per-view passes.
   
The LSC Digital Network will offer season passes for football, volleyball, soccer, basketball, baseball and softball, giving fans access to all regular-season contests for that sport. In addition, viewers will continue to have the option to purchase a $10 day pass that provides access to all broadcasts aired that day and access to all archived content for 24 hours.

HOME OF CHAMPIONS
West Texas A&M is home to one of the most successful athletic programs in all of NCAA Division II. The 2020-21 season saw WT claim seven LSC Regular Season Championships, three LSC Tournament Titles, three Regional Championships, four Top-three track & field finishes, a men's basketball national title game appearance and the 2021 NCAA Division II Softball National Championship.
