THE PITCH
WT improved to 5-1-0 at The Pitch this calendar year following their 3-0 victory over Oklahoma Baptist on Thursday.

WT is 60-29-12 (.653) since the field was opened on Sept. 10, 2010. They have won seven straight at home against Division II competition dating back to Oct. 2019.

THURSDAY'S RECAP
The Lady Buffs scored all three of their goals in the second half in Thursday's home opening win over Oklahoma Baptist.

It was a 0-0 game at halftime even though WT had outshot OBU 13-6 in the opening half. The second half was a different story as Asha James opened the scoring with a brilliant left-footed strike in the 50th minute.

Hannah Kelley-Lusk doubled the lead in the 55th minute with her third strike of the season. She beat the Bison keeper to a long ball from Jessica Diaz before creating space and launching the ball into the back of net from 25 yards out. Maliyah Mendoza finished the scoring in the 68th minute with a thunderous strike to the near post.

Reagan Heelan made nine save en route to her first shutout of the season.

A LOOK AT ADAMS STATE
Adams State dropped to 1-2-0 on the season following a 3-0 setback to Lubbock Christian on Thursday. The Grizzlies are coached by Colin Baker, who led ASU to their RMAC Tournament in 16 years during the spring season.

The Grizzlies scored both of their goals this season in a 2-1 victory over St. Edward's on Sept. 4 in Colorado Springs, Colo. Carena Harrison scored the opener in the 21st minute with Madison Hagerty scoring the game-winner in the 40th minute.

Ashley Beers has played in all 270 minutes in goal for ASU making a total of 16 saves. She made a season-high nine saves in the Grizzlies season opener against No. 25 Western Washington.

THE SERIES
The Lady Buffs lead the all-time series 5-1-0 including a 2-1-0 record in Canyon. The Grizzlies won their last meeting on Sept. 14, 2019 with Jordyn Maes and Kaylee Uebel scoring after WT's Mackenzie Taylor had opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 12th minute.

SCORE FIRST, WIN THE GAME
The Lady Buffs are nearly unbeatable when they score first evident by their record of 57-3-4 (.921) when they find the back of the net before the opposing team.

The Lady Buffs record is equally impressive when Kelley-Lusk finds the back of the net. Since coming to Canyon in 2017, WT is 23-2-1 (.903) when the Farmington, N.M. scores at least one goal.

LEFT-FOOTED MAGICIAN
Diaz recorded her first assist of the season and 16th of her career Thursday, moving her into a tie for 10th on the all-time list with Amy Daniels.

The Amarillo native has recorded multiple assists in every season since she stepped on campus in 2017. She had a career-high five in 2018 helping the Lady Buffs to the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Championship.

TAKING HER BEST SHOT
Kelley-Lusk recorded a career-high 12 shots on Thursday, tied for the most in a single game in program history. Sarit Shenar had 12 against New Mexico on Aug. 29, 2004 with Daniels also reaching the mark on Aug. 31, 1997 against the University of the Southwest.

The senior forward also joined Leslie Briggs as the only Lady Buffs to record 10 or more shots in multiple games.

SCORING IN BUNCHES
The Lady Buffs have scored three or more goals in all 12 wins since Oct. 26, 2021. The streak started with a 4-1 victory over Texas A&M International on with Khaline Jacob scoring a brace.

FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING
After scoring four goals in the spring season for the Lady Buffs, James opened her scoring account on Thursday which included her first career game-winner.

She is now one of six players on the roster to have scored a game-winner. Kelley-Lusk ranks third all-time with 11, three shy of tying Shenar for the record.
