CANYON, Texas. – The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M open Lone Star Conference Championship play on Saturday, April 3, when they host Texas Woman's. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. at The Pitch in Canyon.

A LOOK AT THE LADY BUFFS
The Lady Buffs saw their four-match win streak snapped on Tuesday night with a 5-0 loss to Texas Tech. They enter postseason play at 4-3-0 overall and 4-1-0 in LSC play.
Hannah Kelley-Lusk is the leading scorer with seven goals and two assists for 16 points. The senior has scored multiple goals in three games including her first career hat trick in a 4-1 victory over Oklahoma Christian.
Calista Cordero is Kelley-Lusk's partner in crime as the senior has nine points of her own coming off three goals and three assists. She recorded her first career brace in the Lady Buffs overtime victory over Texas A&M-Commerce.
Asha James has been impressive in the midfield as the transfer from Florida International has three assists and two goals.
The defense is led by
Cheyenne Orozco,
Alex Jurado and
Emily Avila. The trio has started in all seven matches this season allowing 1.8 goals per game.
Reegan Heelan has started in goal six times this season as a true freshman. She has made 24 saves while allowing 11 goals for a save percentage of .686.
A LOOK AT TEXAS WOMAN'S
Texas Woman's enters the first round of the LSC Tournament at 3-2-0 after falling to No. DBU on Wednesday.
They are led by Babak Abouzar, who is the second head coach in program history.
The Pioneer attack is led by senior Haley Ward, who has scored a team-high four goals. The Fort Worth native opened the season with a brace against Oklahoma Christian while adding goals in wins over Midwestern State and UT Tyler.
Maddy Harper is a key clog in TWU's defense as the Fort Worth native earned First Team All-LSC honors as a freshman and third team accolades as a sophomore.
Bailey Heffernon has started in all five games in goal for the Pioneers making 19 saves for a .655 save percentage.
THE SERIES
The Lady Buffs lead the all-time series 17-8-3 but have dropped three straight to the Pioneers dating back to 2018. WT is 12-0-2 at home against TWU including a 9-1 victory in their first-ever meeting on Oct. 4, 2002.
MAKING IT SIX STRAIGHT
The Lady Buffs will make their sixth straight appearance in the LSC Championships on Saturday when they host TWU.
During that run, WT has made the final twice including a title in 2017 where they defeated the Pioneers in the quarterfinals.
Khaline Jacobs scored the game-winner that day in the 99th minute.
ABOUT TIME TO MAKE HISTORY
Cheyenne Orozco enters the postseason on the cusp of making history. The senior centre back, who has started in 69 games during her career in Canyon, is just 181 minutes away from becoming the program's all-time leader in minutes played. Only All-American Lindsay McHorse has played more minutes than the 2018 LSC Defensive Player of the Year.
Kelley-Lusk will move into the Top 5 in goals scored the next time the senior finds the back of the net. She enters the postseason with 29 goals in 50 career games. She also ranks third in game-winners with 11.
SET THE TONE, GO HOME WITH THE WIN
The Lady Buffs are an undefeated 4-0-0 when they score first after Tuesday's 5-0 defeat to Tech. WT has scored in the opening 25 minutes in all four wins including strikes from Kelley-Lusk in the 9th minute against UT Tyler and Oklahoma Christian.
A LOOK AT THE BRACKET
No. 1 DBU earned a bye into the quarterfinals after going 5-0-1 during the regular season. They will play the winner of Midwestern State and UT Tyler. Texas A&M-Commerce hosts Oklahoma Christian in the 3-6 matchup.
On the other side of the bracket, No. 10 Angelo State and Lubbock Christian earned byes into the quarterfinals after finishing as the top two seeds. St. Edward's hots UT Permian Basin while St. Mary's makes the short trip to Laredo to face Texas A&M International.
