CANYON, Texas – The No. 19 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M (12-4, 0-4 LSC) return to Schaeffer Park this weekend as they host Lubbock Christian for an evening doubleheader to continue Lone Star Conference play. Game one is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Friday, March 12.

SCOUTING LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN
LCU (11-6) dropped from the national-rankings this week after going 1-3 in the opening weekend of Lone Star Conference action recording two losses to No. 11 Oklahoma Christian and splitting with Cameron.
The Lady Chaps are hitting .336 as a team, which is third in the conference, averaging 5.5 runs a game. Two LCU players are hitting above .400 led by Brooke Makemson at .438 followed by Savannah Wysocki at .419. Makemsom leads the Lady Chaps with a .854 slugging-percentage with five home runs and a team-high 18 RBI.
In the circle, five pitchers have made appearances for LCU for a team 1.89 ERA. Taylor Franco has made nine starts for the Lady Chaps leading the team and conference with a .58 ERA allowing nine runs (five earned) with 12 walks and 34 strikeouts in 60.1 innings.
LAST TIME OUT
The Lady Buffs moved to 0-4 in conference play after falling to nationally-ranked Texas A&M-Commerce in pitcher's duels. The Lions won with 2-0 and 1-0 shutouts to improve to 4-0 in LSC play. WT hit .224 against the Lions as four players recorded two hits in the doubleheader against TAMUC led by
Hailey Neira and
Sydney Greeson as each went 2-for-5 at the plate.
Emilee Wilson and
Kyra Lair were credited with the losses combining for a 2.25 ERA allowing three runs on 14 hits with 15 strikeouts.
AROUND THE LONE STAR
Five Lone Star Conference programs opened the conference season 4-0 led by No. 18 Texas A&M-Kingsville with a 9-1 overall record moving to a six-game win streak. Oklahoma Christian stands second (12-2) followed by Texas A&M-Commerce (10-4), UT Tyler (10-4) and Midwestern State (11-5) to round out the top five.
RECORD WATCH
Shanna McBroom continues her way up the list in the All-Time career batting records in four categories. The senior now stands eighth in hits (225), and seventh in triples (10) and home runs (32), and total bases (370).
Ruby Salzman now ties McBroom and Meghan Brown in homeruns with 32 after sending two out against Central Oklahoma.
Another sophomore standout moves her way up the Lady Buffs career records as
Kyra Lair stands seventh in game starts (46) and strikeouts (178), ninth in appearances (51) and innings pitched (236.2), and eighth in shutouts (three), wins (29) and complete games (21).
NFCA DIVISION II POLL
The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M dropped two spots in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II Top 25 Poll to rank 19
th announced by the association on Wednesday morning.
Five programs from the Lone Star Conference stand in the national rankings led by Texas A&M Commerce in third with 361 points after opening league play 4-0 followed by UT Tyler (eighth, 294), Oklahoma Christian (10
th, 258), Texas A&M Kingsville (18
th, 144), West Texas A&M (19
th, 97) and Angelo State (2
4th, 59).
