CANYON, Texas – The #1 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M got back to their winning ways on Friday as they claimed a pair of Lone Star Conference victories over the Texas Woman's Pioneers at Schaeffer Park in Canyon, Texas.

WT hits the road for LSC action next weekend as they travel to Oklahoma to take on the Cameron Aggies and #13 Oklahoma Christian Eagles.

Game 1 – West Texas A&M 5, Texas Woman's 4
The Lady Buffs jumped out to an early lead in the home half of the first inning on a
Trinity Kuntz RBI single up the middle to plate
Lily Mulder at 1-0. TWU responded in the third with a pair of runs highlighted by a Hawwa Townsend double to the gap in left center for the 2-1 lead.

WT retook the lead in the bottom of the third with four runs as
Abby Howell and
Jordyn De Los Santos scored on a Pioneer defensive miscue followed by a
Brooke Janning RBI sac bunt and an
Emily Liskai single to center that scored
Cadence Colborn at 5-2.

The Pioneers wouldn't go down without a fight as Madison Lux lifted a two-run long ball to left field in the top of the fifth to cut the lead to 5-4. The final two frames saw the Lady Buffs face just one batter over the minimum to claim the 5-4 victory.

Janning picked up the win (14-2) in the circle, allowing four runs (two earned) on six hits with a walk and eight strikeouts in the complete game victory.

Game 2 – West Texas A&M 15, Texas Woman's 7 (6 Innings)
Texas Woman's jumped out to an early lead in the nightcap on a Marissa Espinoza leadoff homerun. The Lady Buffs responded in the bottom of the frame as they plated seven runs on just three hits highlighted by a two-run single to center by
Bella Holland for the 7-1 lead.

The Pioneers used the long ball to cut into the lead in the top of the third on a Townsend solo shot to left at 7-2.
Heaven Moreno added to the WT advantage in the home half of the frame with a single up the middle to score Mulder.

TWU took advantage of defensive miscues by the Lady Buffs in the top of the fourth and the fifth to cut the lead to 8-7. De Los Santos connected on her 15
th homerun in the bottom of the fifth with a three-run blast onto the batting cages in left field for the 11-7 advantage. WT would close out the run-rule win in the sixth with a Moreno RBI single followed by a De Los Santos base hit to right that scored two along with a TWU error for the 15-7 win.

Laci Peskey moved to 15-3 in the circle as the junior allowed seven runs (two earned) on 13 hits with four walks in her complete game victory.
