Lady Buffs Show Heart on the Road at #2 Lubbock Christian, 60-49

CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M faced off with their fourth ranked opponent of the season on Tuesday night, fighting for 40 minutes against the #2 Lubbock Christian Lady Chaps before falling 60-49 in non-conference regional action as LCU claims their 94th straight victory inside of the Rip Griffin Center.  
 
Alivia Lewis paced the WT offense as the Los Lunas, New Mexico native went 5-of-10 from the floor including 2-of-3 from the free throw line for a team-high 12 points to go along with eight rebounds and a steal. Karley Motschenbacher finished the night going 3-of-6 from the floor and 3-of-4 from the stripe for nine points while grabbing seven boards and registering five steals.
 
The Lady Buffs finished the night going 18-of-51 (35.3%) from the floor including 3-of-15 (20%) from behind the arc and 10-of-15 (66.7%) from the free throw line with 35 rebounds (10 offensive, 25 defensive), eight assists, 14 turnovers, one block and seven steals.
 
Ashton Duncan led the way for the Lady Chaps as she went 8-of-15 from the field including 4-of-10 from deep to finish with a game-high 20 points followed by Juliana Robertson with 11 to go along with 15 boards for a double-double. LCU went 23-of-53 (43.4%) from the field including 8-of-19 (42.1%) from behind the arc and 6-of-8 (75%) from the stripe with 32 rebounds (six offensive, 26 defensive), 10 assists, nine turnovers, two blocks and six steals.
 
HALFTIME REPORT
The Lady Buffs trailed 33-25 heading into the locker room as they went 9-of-24 (37.5%) from the floor including 2-of-8 (25%) from deep and 5-of-9 (55.6%) from the free throw line with 17 rebounds (five offensive, 12 defensive), six assists, eight turnovers, no blocks and three steals. LCU went 14-of-31 (45.2%) from the field including 5-of-10 (50%) from deep to go along with 16 boards (four offensive, 12 defensive), seven assists, four turnovers, one block and three steals.

The Lady Buffs return to the First United Bank Center on Sunday as they host the Northern New Mexico Lady Eagles in exhibition action. WT will be the nightcap of a women's doubleheader on Sunday afternoon as Texas Tech and UNLV face off starting at 2:00 p.m. followed by the Lady Buffs and Northern New Mexico at 4:30 p.m.
