CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M Lady Buffs welcome St. Mary's for the opening round of the Lone Star Conference tournament. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. tonight, Nov. 9, at The Pitch in Canyon. The winner of tonight's match goes on to face the No. 1 seed DBU on Nov. 12 at the Patriot Soccer Field with game time scheduled for 5 p.m. in Dallas.

Today's match will be broadcast on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network. Fans wanting to watch the game can purchase a 24-hour pass for $10 or a season pass for $50.
A LOOK AT THE BRACKET
No. 1 DBU earned the bye into the quarterfinals after going 12-1-0 in conference play. They will face the winner of tonight's match in the semifinals. The other semifinal will see the winners of the other quarterfinal matches between No. 7 Texas A&M-Commerce at No. 2 Midwestern State and No. 6 Angelo State at No. 3 Texas Woman's.
SEVEN STRAIGHT
The Lady Buffs are headed to the conference tournament for the seventh consecutive season after recording a 9-4 mark in LSC play. Last season, WT registered victories over Texas Woman's and Texas A&M-Commerce to advance to the semifinal match against No. 1 seed DBU.
Hannah Kelley-Lusk scored the lone goal for the Lady Buffs that fell 4-1.
A LOOK AT THE RATTLERS
St. Mary's enters the postseason 9-6-2 overall and 7-4-2 in conference to earn the No. 5 seed in the tournament. Juni Ejere scored in the Rattlers 1-0 victory over Lubbock Christian to end the regular season.
The Rattlers average 1.71 goals per match on 16.5 shots with a .395 shot-on-goal percentage. Ejere has scored a team-high seven goals this season followed by Megan Copeland with six while each have registered 16 points.
Rebecca Difronzo has seen the most time in goal for St. Mary's as the freshman posts a 8-5-2 record with a .91 goals-against average. She ranks second in the LSC with a .837 save-percentage.
THE SERIES
Tonight's match marks the 14
th all-time meeting between the two programs in a series that started in 1996. WT is 9-1-3 against the Rattlers including 5-0-1 in Canyon. In their last meeting on Oct. 30, Kelley-Lusk scored twice in the second half for WT to pick up a 2-0 shutout over the Rattlers.
BREAKING RECORDS
In Saturday's 10-0 victory over Texas A&M International,
Hannah Kelley-Lusk shattered the program's single season goal record when she scored her 25
th goal of the season. The senior broke former Lady Buffs Sarit Shenar previous record at 22 in 2006.
She now has 56 career goals, making her one of two players in program history to reach the mark. Only Sarit Shenar has scored more goals than the Farmington, N.M. as she scored 72 times during her time in Canyon.
MONEY MIA MENDOZA
Mendoza has been electric for the Lady Buffs in their past three home games with four goals and three assists. She picked up her first career hat trick in the Lady Buffs 10-0 victory over Texas A&M International on Senior Day to earn her third LSC Defensive Player of the Week accolades.
IRON CHEY
Death, Taxes and
Cheyenne Orozco at centre back are three things that are 100 percent certain. The senior from Albuquerque, N.M. has now played in over 8,200 minutes during her career after playing another 90 minutes on Saturday. On Senior Day, she also registered her first collegiate goal in the 36
th-minute. For her career, the 2018 LSC Defensive Player of the Year has started in 87 of 90 games.
NUMBERS IN DII
Statistically, WT ranks third in the nation in scoring offense at 3.61 goals per contest. They also rank third in goals (65), eighth in points per game (8.12) and fifth in total points (138). Kelley-Lusk continues to lead the nation in goals per game (1.56), points per game (3.69), total goals (25), and total points (58).
A LOOK AT REGIONALS
The Lady Buffs were ranked eighth in the first of three regional rankings released by the NCAA on Oct. 27. The top six teams from the South Central will make the tournament with the winners of the LSC and RMAC Tournaments receiving automatic bids.
