CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M claimed their fourth tournament win in program history and the first since the 2004-05 season on Tuesday afternoon as they finished off the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational in style with a 279 (-5) in the final round at Amarillo Country Club (Par 71 – 6,937 Yards).
The Buffs took a seven stroke lead into the final round as they held off Lone Star Conference foe Cameron by two strokes for the title, the Aggies shot a 274 (-10) on the day to finish second followed by Wayland Baptist. It sets a new school record for a 54-hole stroke total by the Buffs (837).
Eemeli Jarvinen finished the event tied for second as the senior from Helsinki shot an even-par 71 on Tuesday to finish with a 205 (-8).
Daniel Unger finished tied for eighth with a 54-hole total of 209 (-4) including a 68 (-3) in the final round while freshman
Pablo Rebolleda also fired a three-under 68 on Tuesday.
WT returns to the course next Monday and Tuesday as they take part in the Midwestern State Invitational at Wichita Falls Country Club.
