GAME NOTES
CANYON, Texas – No. 19 West Texas A&M will look to get back into the win column on Saturday, Oct. 16, when they host Texas Woman's. Kickoff is scheduled for Noon at The Pitch.
Saturday's contest will be broadcast on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network with Alex Kypfer on the call. Fans wanting to watch the game can purchase a 24-hour pass for $10 or a season pass for $50.
NOT OUR NIGHT
The Lady Buffs were held to a season-low 13 shots, four on-target, in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to Angelo State in San Angelo.
Emily Avila's sixth of the season was in vain as WT saw their five-game unbeaten streak against the Belles come to an end.
A LOOK AT TEXAS WOMAN'S
Texas Woman's currently sits second in the Lone Star Conference standings with 15 points after defeating Texas A&M-Commerce 2-0 on Wednesday. The Pioneers, led by Babak Aboouzar, are 8-2-2 overall and 5-2-0 in LSC play.
The Pioneers don't score a ton of goals (1.33/game) but own one of the top defenses in the nation having only conceded four goals in 12 matches (0.33/game). They are also holding teams to 5.3 shots per game.
Alex Jacinto hasn't played like a freshman as the Bakersfield, Calif. native have recorded seven shutouts in 12 starts. She has only been forced to make less than two saves per contest but did make a season-high four saves against Colorado School of Mines and Dallas Baptist.
Alyssa Simien is the leading scorer for TWU with six goals in 12 games including nine starts. The freshman has been efficient in front of goal with 12 of her 19 shots on-target. She has also scored in consecutive games for the first time in her career.
Hayley Masoner and Kalista Miller have been the Pioneers best providers statistically with two assists each. In total, 10 different Pioneers have been credited with an assist this season.
THE SERIES
Saturday will be the 30th all-time meeting between the two programs that dates back to Oct. 4, 2002. The Lady Buffs are 18-8-3 all-time against the Pioneers including a 13-0-2 record in Canyon.
The two teams faced off in the quarterfinals of the LSC Tournament in the spring with WT coming away with a 3-1 victory.

NEED TO SCORE THE FIRST GOAL
In their loss to ASU on Wednesday, WT dropped to 9-37-2 (.208) since 2015 when the opponent scores the first goal. In the contrary, WT is 62-4-4 (.914) during the same time frame when scoring first.
LOOKING TO BOUNCE BACK
The Lady Buffs haven't lost back-to-back games this season and are 16-16-2 since 2015 following a loss.
SCORING AT WILL AS A DEFENDER
Avila has scored six goals this season, three more than she scored during her first three seasons in Canyon combined. Wednesday's goal was the first this season not from a free kick as she beat ASU's Kira Miller with a left-footed rocket to the near post.
MAKING THEIR WAY UP
Hannah Kelley-Lusk played the full 90 minutes on Wednesday moving her up to eighth on the all-time minutes played list. The senior forward, who has scored 45 goals with 19 assists, has now played in 5,251 minutes passing former teammate Samantha Silvestre.
Jessica Diaz also moved up 11th in career minutes played with 5,165. The senior midfielder from Amarillo has appeared in 82 games including 59 starts during her five-year career in Canyon. She has scored eight goals with 18 assists, the eighth-most in program history, for a total of 34 points.
Diaz also recorded her 122nd career shot against the Belles, moving her into a three-way tie for ninth with Khaline Jacob and Miriam Dominguez.
UNITED SOCCER COACHES TOP 25
WT moved up to 19th in the latest United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Women's Top 25 released on Tuesday afternoon.
The Lady Buffs are one of three schools from the South Central represented in the sixth edition of the poll. UC-Colorado Springs moved up five spots to seventh with DBU dropping back two spots to 10th. WT is now in the Top 20 at 19th with Colorado School of Mines, Angelo State, Texas A&M-Commerce, Colorado Mesa and Westminster receiving votes.
