ODESSA, Texas – The #15 Buffaloes of West Texas A&M scored double-digit runs for the second consecutive game on Sunday afternoon as they topped the UT Permian Basin Falcons, 13-2 to take the Opening Weekend Lone Star Conference series at Roden Field in Odessa.

The Buffs will open up their home schedule next weekend as they host the St. Edward's Hilltoppers in a three-game Lone Star Conference series starting on Friday afternoon with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m. at Wilder Park in Canyon.

The Buffs started off the scoring in the top of the first inning as
Keone Givens stole third and scored on an errant throw followed by a
Justin Martinez RBI walk with the bases loaded for the early 2-0 lead. The Falcons got on the board in the home half of the second inning as Jonathan Bermudez scored from third on a wild pitch to make it 2-1.

Givens drove in the next three runs for the Buffs with a sac fly in the fourth and a two-run triple in the sixth to extend the lead to 6-1, WT put the game out of reach in the eight with four runs followed by three more in the ninth as
Mason Mays singled to left center to drive in a pair followed by a
Kyle Moos RBI single to run the lead to 13-2.

Todd Danzeisen picked up the win (1-0) for the Buffs in his first career start, allowing one run on five hits with two walks and five strikeouts in hit six innings of work.
Mitchell Miller,
Carter Brown and
Garrett Cobb combined to toss the last three frames for the Buffs, allowing just one run on two hits with eight strikeouts.Â
