ODESSA, Texas – The #15 West Texas A&M Buffaloes bounced back from a season-opening loss as they handed the UT Permian Basin Falcons a 10-0 shutout loss in game two of the Lone Star Conference weekend series at Roden Field in Odessa.

The Buffs and Falcons will settle the series on Super Bowl Sunday with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. in Odessa, senior left-hander
Todd Danzeisen is expected to get the ball for the Buffs in the finale in his first career start.

The Buffs started off the scoring in the top of the third inning as
Izaiah Madrid doubled down the left field line to start the frame followed three batters later by a
Clay Koelzer RBI single to right field for the early 1-0 lead. WT used the long ball to add to their lead in the fourth as
Reese Patterson lifted a solo shot to left field with one out for his first collegiate homerun followed by a
Tanner Schuetz solo bomb to left for the 3-0 lead.

WT added to their lead in the sixth as Madrid singled up the middle to score Patterson followed by a
Keone Givens RBI single through the left side that scored
Luke Hughes to extend the lead to 5-0. Schuetz added to the lead in the top of the seventh as the senior singled to left to score
Darius Carter followed by a Madrid RBI single down the right field line at 7-0.

The Buffs put the game away in the top of the eighth as Carter doubled down the left field line to score Koelzer and
Cade Engle followed by a Schuetz RBI single to right to run the lead to 10-0.Â

Zach Dixon picked up the win (1-0) for the Buffs, allowing no runs on just three hits with two walks and six strikeouts in his 6.1 innings of work while
Chandler Dean tossed the last 1.2 frames for the Buffs to finish off the shutout.
