FRISCO, Texas – The #16 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M used a strong defensive effort on Friday night as they registered eight blocks while allowing Texas A&M-Kingsville to shoot just 29.7% from the floor during the quarterfinal round of the 2019 Lone Star Conference Championship at the Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lady Buffs were led offensively by
Lexy Hightower who went 7-of-10 from the floor including 4-of-5 from behind the arc with a game-high 18 points followed by
Nathalie Linden with 13 and
Megan Gamble with 11,
Abby Spurgin registered a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds while
Deleyah Harris grabbed 10 boards of her own.
- Ravae Payne led the way for the Javelinas as she went 3-of-9 from the field including 8-of-11 from the charity stripe with 14 points followed by Kristina Kana with 11 and Bri-Anna Soliz with 10, Soliz grabbed six rebounds to lead the way defensively while Payne had three assists and three steals on the night.
FIRST HALF
- The Lady Buffs finished the first half going 13-of-31 (41.9%) from the floor including 3-of-9 (33.3%) from behind the arc and 3-of-7 (42.9%) from the free throw line to go along with 27 rebounds (nine offensive, 18 defensive), seven assists, 10 turnovers, three blocks and five steals.
- Texas A&M-Kingsville went 8-of-30 (26.7%) from the field in the first half including 2-of-7 (28.6%) from deep without attempting a shot at the charity stripe to go along with 14 rebounds (three offensive, 11 defensive), seven assists, eight turnovers, no blocks and two steals.
SECOND HALF
- WT finished the game going 30-of-57 (52.6%) from the floor including 6-of-15 (40%) from deep and 8-of-18 (44.4%) from the free throw line with 47 rebounds (12 offensive, 35 defensive), 18 assists, 16 turnovers, eight blocks and six steals in the win.
- The Javelinas went 19-of-64 (29.7%) from the field on the night including 5-of-17 (29.4%) from behind the arc and 8-of-13 (61.5%) from the charity stripe with 28 rebounds (10 offensive, 18 defensive), 13 assists, 10 turnovers, one block and five steals.
