Spurgin’s Big Night Sends the #16 Lady Buffs to the LSC Title Game, 58-44

FRISCO, Texas – 
The #16 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M didn't hold a lead until right before the half but a strong defensive performance and 16 points from sophomore Abby Spurgin lifted WT to their 22ndLone Star Conference Title Game with a 58-44 victory over fifth-seeded Texas A&M-Commerce on Saturday night at the Comerica Center in Frisco.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lady Buffs were led offensively by Abby Spurgin who went 8-of-12 from the floor for 16 points followed by Lexy Hightower and Delaney Nix with 11 points each, Spurgin grabbed 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the tournament while Deleyah Harris had nine boards of her own.
- Alexis Bryant went 5-of-13 from the field and 2-of-6 from the free throw line for the Lions to lead the way offensively with 12 points followed by Princess Davis with 11, Bryan grabbed six rebounds while Davis dished out five assists with three steals on the night.
 
FIRST HALF
- The Lady Buffs finished the first half going 10-of-23 (43.5%) from the floor including 3-of-7 (42.9%) from behind the arc and 3-of-11 (27.3%) from the free throw line with 19 rebounds (six offensive, 13 defensive), nine assists, 12 turnovers, three blocks and five steals.
- Texas A&M-Commerce went 9-of-25 (36%) from the field in the first half including 2-of-5 (40%) from deep and 5-of-7 (71.4%) from the charity stripe with 14 rebounds (four offensive, 10 defensive), four assists, 10 turnovers, two blocks and three steals.

SECOND HALF
- WT finished the game going 23-of-50 (46%) from the floor including 6-of-14 (42.9%) from behind the arc and 6-of-14 (42.9%) from the free throw line with 41 rebounds (12 offensive, 29 defensive), 16 assists, 20 turnovers, 10 blocks and seven steals.
- The Lions went 15-of-52 (28.8%) from the field including 2-of-10 (20%) from deep and 12-of-20 (60%) from the charity stripe with 29 rebounds (11 offensive, 18 defensive), eight assists, 15 turnovers, four blocks and four steals in the loss.
 
UP NEXT
The Lady Buffs advance to Sunday's Lone Star Conference Title game for the 22nd overall time as they look for their 15th tournament crown, WT will face the winner of Angelo State and Tarleton who battle in the Saturday night finale starting at 8:30 p.m. in Frisco. The Lady Buffs have claimed six of the 11 LSC Tournament Titles since the neutral site format was introduced in 2008.
