CANYON, Texas –
The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M hit the road for the first time in Lone Star Conference play on Thursday, Oct. 10, against Texas Woman's. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Pioneer Soccer Park.

A LOOK AT THE LADY BUFFS
WT improved to 4-3-0 overall and 3-0-0 in Lone Star Conference play with a 2-0 victory over UT Tyler on Saturday afternoon at The PItch. Saturday's game also served as the second annual Jae Hogeland Memorial/ALS Awareness Game where the Lady Buffs wore red jerseys and socks to honor those who battled and are currently battling the disease.

The Lady Buffs got off to a dream start scoring twice in the opening 20 minutes. Hannah Kelley-Lusk beat the keeper at the near post from a tight angle for her fourth of the season following a nice move from Khaline Jacob to beat her defender down the left side. Jacob provided the assists on Maliyah Mendoza's goal in the 20th minute. Mendoza played a textbook one-two with WT's No. 12 before beating the keeper at the far post.

Daniel Estrada picked up her first career shutout in the victory after making three saves behind a Lady Buff defense that held the Patriots to 12 shots.

A LOOK AT TEXAS WOMAN'S
Texas Woman's enters the week 7-2-0 overall and 3-1-0 in conference play following a 4-0 victory over UT Permian Basin on Saturday afternoon.

The Pioneers offense is led by junior Haley Ward, who has scored a goal in three consecutive games including a brace against Oklahoma Christian. The Fort Worth, Texas product has a conference-high seven goals on 28 shots while adding a pair of assists. Riley Sutton and Jaycee Fuller have both chipped in two goals while dishing out a team-high three assists.

Daniela Marin has been the featured keeper for TWU as the senior has started in all nine matches. She has only allowed six goals (0.68 GAA) with 42 saves and five shutouts. Sarah Campbell has also seen action in goal for the Pioneers making an appearance against East Central.

Babak Abouzar is in his seventh year as head coach of the TWU women's soccer program where he has led the Pioneers to a 58-51-14 record including four LSC Tournament appearances.

THE SERIES
The Lady Buffs lead the all-time series 17-6-3 but have struggled recently away from home. WT has dropped four of their last five in Denton, the lone winning came in 2016 when Khadidra Debesette scored a brace in the opening 26 minutes.

Last season, the Lady Buffs defeated TWU 2-0 at home behind goals from Jacob and Calista Cordero. Jacob opened the scoring in the 44th minute on a nice individual effort followed by Cordero's goal in the 70th to seal the victory.

The Pioneers returned the favor on Oct. 21 in Denton with a 2-0 victory of their own on goals from Libby Murphy and Haley Ward.

MENDOZA, KELLEY-LUSK EARN LSC HONORS
WT's Maliyah Mendoza and Hannah Kelley-Lusk earned Lone Star Conference Player of the Week honors, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon. Mendoza was named the Defensive Player of the Week with Kelley-Lusk taking home Offensive Player of the Week honors.

Mendoza did it all for the Lady Buffs last weekend as they remained undefeated in LSC play with wins over Texas A&M-Commerce and UT Tyler at The Pitch. She was part of a defense that only allowed one goal and 11 shots on-goal helping Daniela Estrada record her first career shutout. The Dallas, Texas product also produced both assists in WT's 2-1 victory over the Lions followed by her first goal of the season in the 20th minute against UTT.

Kelley-Lusk has now scored in all three LSC matches this season after adding two more to her tally this weekend. The junior forward scored the game-winner for the Lady Buffs on Thursday in the 88th minute while opening the scoring on Saturday in the seventh minute. The Farmington, N.M. native now has three game-winners this season and eight for her career which is the fifth-most in program history.

RECORD WATCH
Kelley-Lusk continues her assault on the record book after scoring both game-winners for the Lady Buffs over the weekend. The junior now ranks fifth all-time with eight passing teammate Khaline Jacob and Kendall Kitchens (2006-10). Her three game-winners through seven games this season are the 10th most in a single season.

Kelley-Lusk and Jacob have both scored 16 career goals, three shy of reaching the career Top-10 list. Jessica  Rodriguez (2000-02) scored 19 goals during her career while Jessie Thomas (2011-14) had 20 of her own.

Mackenzie Taylor is 72 minutes short of passing Taylor Cromeens (2007-10) into third in career minutes played. Cromeens played in 5,585 minutes during her four-year career where she helped the Lady Buffs to their first regional title in 2009.

6 WINS AWAY FROM THE CENTURY MARK
With their 2-0 victory over UT Tyler on Saturday, 10th year head coach Chad Webb improved to 94-73-20. The former WT standout is six wins away becoming the second coach in program history to reach the 100-win plateau. The Lubbock, Texas native has led WT to four consecutive 10-plus win seasons including back-to-back NCAA appearances.
